i need to buy new poles and there are 15$ k2 automatic 15$ rossignol sprayer or 26$ scott riots. should i spend the extra cash for the scott riots or just save the money b/c poles dont matter anyway?
I think of it this way, poles are probably gonna break anyways so you might as well spend as little as possible - I bought mine for $5 at my local ski shop - the only thing pole related I would spend money on is the grip cause they can be exchanged onto any pole.
i go to my lost and found at my ski club and grab some pairs that have been there for a while, once i got a pair of scoot racing poles and cut them then spray painted them. still have em been 2 years
I just permanently borrow rental poles. they are the shit.
I did splurge many years ago when I was a mogul skier for some ICEUSA poles. but never again.
Would be cool, but other than posting on NS all the time, I'm not really involved with the ski industry, so I don't think I'll be getting an orange name anytime soon, and there are plenty of green names so I don't think I'll be getting one of those either. Thanks though.
You dont really need to spend money on poles if you have 30 minutes of free time
Just take some rentals, or some old school ones. Cut them down to perfect size, add some ANIMAL BMX grips, and paint to your delight
goode composite poles. they are actually able to bend and not snap, or get bent in place. flexible and easy to cut to the length you want. killington has them as their rentals... my brother got me new ones last year when they were throwing out the ones with the old logo because i needed some longer ones
Just take the cheapest ones you can find, cut to size, and paint 'em however. Then throw some grips on and if (when) you break your poles you can salvage the grips.
Yeah every year that i bought poles i would break them... I finally just took some rental poles one year and painted them one night when I was drunk.... Still have them and its been like 4 seasons, rock on.
