good edit, but either get a longer dolly track/do shorter movements or edit out the endings cause it looks terrible when you see the camera shake from hitting the end

Ya, because I built this the night before I only had 10ft. I'm currently working on making it larger.

i am going to suggest to work on your framing. yes you have a dolly. so when using it make it so you can see the whole shot, from getting on to getting off. half the shots i felt got cut off cause you moved away from the action...this can been good but not when it cuts things off..just a suggestion for the future

constructive criticism:
I'm confused as to the use of your dolly. I mean, yes, you have a dolly, yes, you're creating movement; but what was the point of that movement? It didn't reveal anything, and often it actually removed the subject. The shots where you tracked closer to the box, closing out the end of the box before the skier even got there really confused me. I mean, it's one thing if you're doing that and you know you have another angle to cut to to finish the shot, but that alone really isn't appealing.

Also, maybe it's just me, but i'm kind of sick of dolly just because because you have a dolly. A dolly shot is a tool and is really only effective if used to reveal something. For instance, you start the shot with your subject blocked, but track over and reveal the subject. I find dolly shots without purpose to be rather gimicky, i mean sure they look cool, but they're easilly over done. It was definitely over done in this case.

as for editing, you need to clean up any mishaps with the dolly. I also find it unappealing when i can tell when the movement of the dolly starts and stops. It's much more appealing to have a dolly shot cut into while the dolly is moving. Any abrupt movements of the dolly really kill a shot for me.

On the other hand, i did really enjoy some of those dolly shots where you were tracking along with the skier. Definitely a need persepective and the dolly really helps get the shot in that case.

I am in no way hating on this, i'm just saying this to try to help you out. Videography is an art and your opinion counts the most, so you do what you want. Take or leave my advice, it makes no difference to me, do what you think looks good and what you enjoy doing.

Taking it for sure. As a photo major, I am very use to critique, shit I have normally one a week. I have been into video for a while but never did anything with it, other then getting my feet wet and now I'm trying to jump in. In terms of use with the dolly, that was really it. I wanted to use it because I just built it for my video in school. I finally had a chance to use it on something, rather then just filming random stuff. I guess this "edit" was more of an experiment. I wanted to see how it "worked." In doing so I played with different angles, towards the action and away form it, etc. Basically learning how to use it. From where use it when need be. I completely understand to not over play it. Thanks for the info for sure.
