Marker Jester/Griffon Toe Piece?

I have both jesters and griffons with the same problem so I was wondering if anyone had a solution or answer. Both bindings are mounted properly by a shop etc. but the toe piece that sits on the secure mounting plate has a TON of movement and play to it. The toe piece seems very loose, but both I and the shop could not find / locate any screw or point to tighten the piece on. Its kind of strange being clicked in but having my toe piece play a few mm each way. Im sure im not the only one to have this problem since it has happened on both pairs of mine.

Any help?

that sounds sketchy, it's not the part of the toe piece that is right under the toes of your boot is it? because that is supposed to move back and forth but it should always return to the center. My roommate has these bindings and that piece actually fell off which became a small problem.

its the actual toe piece. The part that seems to be on some sort of hinge bar. The large white block that holds the toe itself in. Not the side to side movement of that thinger. It is an up and down movement.

i have the same problem on both my pairs of jesters, super lame I contacted the Marker rep from my shop and he couldn't even help me out. Not to stoked

Do you have Full Tilts or Dalbello boots? From what I have read, Marker makes their bindings with maximum clearance and Full Tilt and Dalbelo make boots with the minimum size rating leaving room for a little play, if that makes sense.  Supposedly there is a spacer available from marker for these situations. I'll look for the thread where somebody had the same issue.

sounds like a mounting issue. I have jesters on both my park and pow skis and never have loved a binding more. The adjust in the back so maybe try screwing the back forward? or your boots shape or worn downness could have something to do with it. Salomon bindings used to do this.

happens with both my spks and my full tilt konflicts. Not a mounting issue either. Cant even get in contact with fucking marker, and I am an employee at one of their largest retailers. Such bullshit, they better hook it up eventually.

i never had that problem, do you have a worn down toe peice?

also, talk to a marker/volkl rep at your local mountain, they're the best resource

Yo chris, this is a warrantee issue, or at least it was with mine and a few other people. What happens, especially with larger size people is the plastic gets a little movement in it over time and slow the hinge piece becomes lose. And if that is the case, you can warrantee it no questions asked, because if you were to become injured, it would be markers fault. So i hope that helps you out.

Chris,

Marker has a part that will be arriving in 2 weeks that will fix the
problem.  I would suggest you call customer service in a few weeks and
order a few.  As far as I know, the part will connect to the toe lug on
your boot and pick up the slack.  I don't have any more details than
that at this point.


that is the response from the warranty dept. if anyone else is having this problem.

happened to all my griffons (now on jester i didn't notice it yet) but on those blue griffons u can screw that black plate up a little so u maybe stand a mm higher but everything will be more tight again on the toe pieace! TRY IT!

I have the same thing with my Solomon drivers. I don't think it's a big problem because its not moving side to side and its pretty much unnoticeable when I'm skiing.

I have a pair of older Dukes that do the same thing as the video. Have you had any luck fixing them?

Mine only move when not clicked in, anytime I click in the movement stops… Not sure how concerned I should be about this

I have the same problem with my griffons. I work at a skis shop and asked my boss about it and tried fixing it myself. Unfortunately you can't fix the problem by adjusting anything and my boss told me to get some new bindings. Kinda blows, but I guess that kind of thing happens when you shred a ton park on the same setup for 3 years

For a lot of these, Do you guys know you have set the correct toe height on the binding or adjusted the AFD for your boot. If this isnt set correctly, you can get a little up and down movement in the binding. As the boot sole wears down, the AFD needs adjusted.

I agree...

Marker makes good bindings. Some better than others. In my opinion jesters are a very solid binding. Griffons less so, but not bad.

That's said sth2 and pivot/fks are better. I own all three...

Shit. Just ordered a pair of griffons from a kid here and I have the same problem.. Can I contact a local dealer even if I didn't buy them from their to get warranty? How do I go about this?

I had the same thing happening to me with my griffons and dalbellos. i was getting movement up and down not a ton but noticeable at faster speeds. i just adjusted the AFD and that fixed it. theres a slot that can adjust the AFD with and allen wrench right under it.
