Okay, just spent the day walking around Berlin, and there is a palpable sense of excitement out there. They've set up these 1000 giant dominoes (like 2 m+ tall) that have all been individually painted by schools in Germany and elsewhere, that line the old path of the Wall from the Reichstag to the Potsdamer Platz. Very nifty and colorful, it's quite the festival. Also a little sledding slope has been set up at Potsdamer Platz by the Salzburg tourist bureau, so yes, there's artificial snow as well.
There are tons of visitors in the city, and lots of locals who seem to be quite proud that their city is the center of the world's attention, at least tomorrow.
It's good to be where the news is taking place, and it's a positive occasion. It's a happy city right now.
