The liners are supposed to keep your feet warm, not the socks. Ski and snowboard boot liners are pretty high-tech, warm, generally free of rough spots, and are heat moldable to the shape of your foot.
The stink is gonna happen, regardless of whether you wear socks or not, not even that antimicrobial stuff helps. And if I absolutely need to put socks on, then they are the thinnest possible. Of course, the vast majority of skiers and riders do wear socks, I've only run into a couple people who don't.
So here you go, drying out the footbeds of my snowboard boots after a rad day of powder (note the tatami mat, it was a 3-foot day in Japan, claim. . .):
