ummm, you got it all wrong. interest rates start high, especially when you are on a basic free no annual charge card <im assuming so because you are only 22 and have no sense of money>. rates start really high, like 18% and they usually stay high, unless you call your credit card company and literally ask them what they can do in terms of lowering your interest rate, and they will in nearly all cases.
When you say "cause i can afford these things?" well, you can't, you bought them on credit, banks money, your just showing the bank can afford those things, and do you know why banks can afford these things? INTEREST. They sucker kids into a card at 18 just in time for the hard financially pressed times of college, in hopes to sucker you into racking up the dept so they get there interest. Banks are by no means dumb. they aren't going to help you, they want, they need, your interest.
But... with all this set aside, if you pay your card off ASAP, then a credit card can be a great thing to build credit. im 19, zero debt, solid savings, good job with large pay increase each year, a great credit score (184 ish) and I was approved with out a co signer for a mortgage, currently looking for a house.

I personally am really glad I don't have a credit card. I would use it on really stupid shit. I have a debit card but I never keep more than like $5 in it unless I know something is coming that I need to pay for.
