I've been on my Mothership 182's for like 4 seasons now(The bright green ones with pink bases), and its time to upgrade. I definitely want some fat skis, and I loved my motherships, so I don't think I can get anything smaller. I would like something that is maybe a little snappier in tight trees though. I'm 6' 170lbs, and ski pretty aggresive. These would be my only skis. My choices right now are prohet 100s, (179) rossignol s5 BC (178). any better advice? price is something to think about, but I'm planning on having these for another 5 years, so not a huge deal.
well, if price is no issue, you should look into the S7, JJ, or bent chetlers
also, did you like the stiffness of the mothership. do you want a charging ski or a ski that you can play around with (salomon rocker VS EP pros) the prophet 100s are a great all around ski and always get great reviews. maybe if you want to stick with line you should look into the SFB
sorry thats a little jumbled but if you want a more detailed response you might have to put some more info about yourself
ok. so cliffs and drops are what I really like, in the range of 10-20 feet. occasionally larger, but more than 30 is not in the cards. I need something that can handle some serious chop and pretty tight trees. A typical run would be finding some cool line up top with a kicker and some drop, then searching out powder stashes the rest of the way down the mountain, in between hitting natural jumps, all at the fastest speed possible. That is where most of my skiing is done, and when conditions aren't deep I hit the park (not often). I'm learning to telemark, so when snow isn't great thats usually what I do. The stiffness on the motherships was great, and they always feel really solid where ever I take them.
http://www.lib-tech.com/nas/pow/ look at theese they got camber and rocker, or the stiffer side, are 117mm in the waist and have magnetraction for realy good hold on groomers
