Hellbents in tight trees

Ridiculous

Just wondering how everyone finds Hellbents in tight trees (179) are they too big and cumbersome or can you still slash turns to cut speed....

obviously if a 179 is too big for you they'll suck, but the hellbents are a pretty nimble ski in my opinion. i think they're pretty fun in the trees.

hellbents are super rockered, therefore you have a really good pivot point for quick turns and slashes. I would say they are better than a normal ski

I agree with GYPSYSLAYER, with a super rockered ski, you can fly through trees because you can adjust so quickly. The only thing you need to think about is if the ski is the right sizing for you. I don't think you dropped any details about yourself or your skiing ability. That helps people give you better information. But nontheless, the ski is dope.

Thanks for the comment Schmies. Its pretty cool that a company such as k2 can give you the feedback you require almost instantaneously. Also, sweet job on all the graphics.

On another note, there is an error on the k2 website though as it lists the EXT and Extreme as the same dimensions. Anyway, I digress.....

I am 5'11 but only 150lbs so Im pretty sure Id want the 179 as that would still give me plenty of float. Also Ill be skiing Whistler which means a pretty wet heavy snowpack and I like to spend most of my time playing around in the trees Ill ski some big(ish) mountain whenever conditions are favorable.

Though slightly different design, I found my speed increased dramatically in the trees when I am riding my bibbys. with early rise and rocker they ski much shorter then their actual length and you can react that much quicker

WIth your height, 179 would probably work just fine, especially in the more dense NW snowpack. One thing I did to mine that I think helps is I completely dulled my tips and tails with a file but kept the edges regular underfoot for edge hold. I feel dulling the tips and tails makes the ski even that much more buttery or smooth when slashing turns on them. And you still have a substantial effective edge for carving on them.
