Fast food uses mass production and assembly line industrial food growing to get the cheapest, fattiest, filling and unhealthy meal to your car. In recent years, meat companies have consolidated and made growing meat into a manufacturing process. Chickens that go into McNuggets now are grown in half the time and have double the meat. Farming and breeding has driven the farmed chicken so far that they can hardly walk. Diseases and infections in these houses rage, and the meat that comes out of the centers they are processed in have millions more bacteria than a home-slaughtered out in the open air piece of meat.
Lets get into the environmental side effects of concentrating such business perhaps. In much of the South, entire counties reek of pig shit from the massive farms. Ponds containing feet of liquefied shit cover acres, and annually overflow into the Mississippi. The algae bloom and marine dead zone, which is a direct result of the incredible amounts of nitrogen being spilled into the river from such events has killed miles of coastline and ruined fishing and shrimping industries:

But manufacturing makes food cheap for sure, but government subsidies from these large lobbying industries help. Its an incredibly lucrative business, simply because you can hire the cheapest labor to serve the cheapest food to the poorest people, and people have to buy it. Its an apple from the store or a cheeseburger for half that price. Granted, the cheeseburger is less nutritious, more sugar, more fat... but I digress.
Childhood obesity rates are skyrocketing, as are medical conditions associated with, such as type 2 diabetes. If you want to intake that many grams of sugar, fat, cholesterol, be my fuckin guest, we'll see who's healthier at age 30. For me, I'm sticking with my tactic of eating whole foods, from the fringes of the grocery store, and taking the oh so precious 30 minutes out of my day to stop, relax, and cook some delicious food.
