Top 5 Skiers All Around

I'm getting hated on super hard over at TGR for basically telling them they're all delusional in making their lists of the top "all around" skiers, ie skiers who can do everything... Curious to see if Newschoolers is equally out to lunch in their perspective on these matters. Who is at the top of the sport right now when you consider all aspects of it in your opinion?

Anyone who doesn't list McConkey as one of the top five all-around skiers ever is simply wrong.

1) He dominated the big mountain competition circuit and won multiple national and world titles
2) He won a Bud pro mogul tour event
3) He won skiercross races against world cup racers
4) He invented terrain park tricks (switch front and switch back 360 and 540) and competed in the X-Games and Gravity Games in big air

Yeah, his tricks around 1999-2000 pale in comparison to what is done today, but so do everyone's. That's natural progression. HH wouldn't be spinning dub cork 12s without the groundwork of those set before.

Shane was right there with the top guys, playing in the park, doing underflips, spinning sw 5s and throwing huge switch backs. Did he slide rails? He was flipping off rails the first day he ever slid one.

Find anyone that can compete with the all-around credentials listed above besides Jon and Henrik.

^The point is that it's 2009, and as of right now, what Shane could do doesn't stack up, if he were still with us (RIP). The question is who are the top 5 skiers all around, not who should get a lifetime achievement award. T-hall can hold his own in AK with the best of them, wreck pillows and BC, slay urban rails and park jumps, mini golf as well as anybody, and is among the best if not the single best pipe skier in the world. That's as of right now.

That's where I think this thread differs from the TGR thread. Yeah, it's definitely different now. I think the TGR thread was looking at all-time.

OMG he can rip AK lines like nobodies business but i have never seen him ski white heat at Sunday River so he cant be good.

There was an article in powder i believe about how he wears all black whenever he goes to a resort.  "When filming you want to be bright so the camera can follow you.  But when your ducking ropes you need to be a stealth ninja" That may be why you dont see him ride in bounds

o yeah forgot sammy for sure..and honestly idk why jon is really included..i mean he can ski everything else but he cant really necessarly do it very well compared to these other guys and have good style with it as well IMO

Solid list. The only person I'm iffy about would be Jon, he kills it and all but I don't think he is top 5 material. I would probably replace him with Dane Tudor, who is killing it at just about everything right now.

Jon is probably the best skier there is.
- Park: Has progressed the sport by being the first to try multiple dubs. And he is still the best at throwing them.
- Pipe: Was a pretty darn good pipeskier a few years back ( X-games bronze)
- BC: Doesn't do it to much, but I've heard rumours about a sw misty 9 over Chads? (And just watch his part in Session 1242)
- Rails: Probably his weakness, but just take a look at his railskiing from keystone at his old videoblog.
- Moguls: Was a mogulskier in his earlier days.
- Slalom: Doing his thing in FIS world cup competitions.
- Influence: Has been the host for probably the sickest competitions there is.

But underneath him...

Pollard because he still skis park occasionally and lots of powder, maintains 3 pro models, a film  company, and he designs lots of shit for dragon and others too.

Benchetler because he can do huuuuuge jumps at mammoth and then switch to shredding powder in japan.

Jon because he is trying to get into the 2014 winter olympics as a racer and he has his own comps and he skis bc.

Pep one of the most creative guys when it comes to doing tricks anywhere, park or bc.

T-hall who has been all over the map these past few years, ak, interior BC, urban, park and pipe.

Is he the best park skier? Yeah.

Can he shred BC? not really.

Does he race? no

Does he ski bumps? no

Is he ever a threat in halfpipe? no

Can he ski lines? Hasn't yet.
