In my opinion best ski movie I have seen this year. Ian McIntosh proved he was the man more than once, Dylan Hood skied the biggest switch line I have ever seen, and Eric Roner had an epic skiBASE. Overall I didn't find one second of the movie boring (except maybe Seth's segment, but I wont talk bout that) everyone slayed from Callum Petit to WIley Miller to Sammy Carlson. And surprisingly there was only one snowboarder with maybe two shots in the movie. If you have a chance to see this movie and you like watching Big Mountain segments I highly recommend Re:session. GREAT movie.
Couldn't agree more, resession and edias tied for me as my favorites, cant really pick one since they both have such a different feel. Every segment was sick, ians first drop almost made me shit my pants just watching it, sage it just too good, tanners segment was awesome as was sammys, i could just keep going. Also the editing and song choice was excellent, i took so many songs from the movie and added them to the skiing playlist.
I'm glad to see some others on NS agreeing with me. I just got Refresh in the mail and TGR is on another level in Alaska..with Tanners 7's on massive lines and wiley millers amazing backcountry segment. Refresh was really good but the lines in TGR are jaw dropping.
The shot of Mcintosh where he has a full 30 second face shot is the craziest shot I've ever seen
I'm more backcountry oriented but I would have to say RE:session was my favorite movie of the year
re:session may be my new favorite move. it was full of nonstop amazing shots and skiing. dana, sage, and macintosh were my favorite segments. im definitely more of a powder guy so i may be biased compared to most of ns, but re:session blew everything out of the water, refresh, edias, so far so hood, you name it re:session was better.
Oh there is no question on how hard those guys dominate in AK, they are so unbelievably dialed...lots of respect for that whole crew. Another thing that I enjoyed about this movie was how relatable everything was- even though it's still big trips to Europe and Alaska, they portray a relevant vibe throughout.
Ya the intro was awsome, all about how the culture of skiing is above the economic times, one of the few ski movie intros I watch everytime I watch the movie
My favorite movie this year so far and I have seen EDIAS, Pretty Good and Contrast.
Sammy Carlson killed it as did Wiley Miller and Tanner Hall. I really love seeing more of the 'trip' aspects such as the trip to Poland/Slovakia. It makes a change from just the usual stops, AK, BC, Utah etc... Best TGR movie in recent years. Also Eric Roner's segment was so sick with the ski Base and the music for that segment, it was just so well put together. Amazing...
this movie gave me more adrenaline rushes watching than any movie ive ever seen. suuuch burly lines just stomped, epic pow lines, huge tricks. finally had a good soundtrack too, which TGR has struggled with in past movies. absolutely loved it.
i agree: best movie of the year for sure. The backcountry skiing is by far the best. Between Dylan Hood, Dash, and Sammy, there is some truly amazing jumping, etc. and the most switch pow STOMPS i've ever seen. I love Refresh, but I think TGR slayed it this year
I just saw re:session for the first time and felt obliged to say something about it. holyfuckingshit. Best movie of the year by far in my opinion. Ive seen pretty good, In Deep, and EDIAS so far which were all sick, but TGR took the cake for me this year. I had to change my pants after multiple segments, especially Sage's. If you ski, watching re:session should be a requirement.
i agree. Re:session was extremely good. Dylan Hood blow my mind. I havent seen a tgr movie in 2 or 3 years and havent seen anything from Dylan Hood since then, but by goly! he killed it. Great movie!
The level of skiing in this movie is ridiculous. Sammy murdered everything he hit. The hanging barrel and Cody, WY trip were amazing. Dylan and Wiley have such sweet segments. Sage killed his lines. Tanner, like somebody said, is raising the standard in big mountain tricks. Erik Roner is always fun to watch and his Shane McConkey tribute jump is heartfelt as well. Such a good sound track too.
agreed, TGR killed it this year with re:session. sammys part was incredible, one of the best big mountain movies ive seen, but it also featured a lot of jumping. I did not mind the lack of rails at all.
