The same shit as California. I despise the Mormon church for this propaganda bullshit they throw at people. I know I'm gonna get the, "Bro, Mormon people are soooo awesome to your face, don't hate."

However, they ruin life for many people. I thought this country was founded on the princible of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Apparently not anymore, and since the Mormons are still pissed that Joseph Smith was killed and they couldn't become a state until they gave up polygamy, they have to ruin marriage for other people. Fuck the Mormons. Bring the hate to me in PM, keep it out of this shitstorm.

It has NOTHING to do with being politically liberal or conservative, it has to do with basic human rights in what is supposedly the most free nation on the planet. Just as you have to right to own a gun, why should the government or a slim majority of society tell two people they don't have the right to civil marriage.

People need to take a look at the Seven Core Principles of Catholic Social Teaching. Read those, and then think about pretty much every single one is contradicted by the current acts of the chruch.

Oh trust me I know, I'm taking a social justice course at a catholic school. I laugh a lot from the irony of the name.

But the Catholic Social Teachings is one of the more apparent and public contradictions.
They are:
Life and Dignity of the Human Person (ha!)
Call to Family, Community and Participation (again, ironic)
Rights and Responsibilities (says that rights come with a responsibility to ensure these rights for everyone, hmmmm)
Option for the Poor and Vulnerable (the gay community is definitely vulnerable right now)
The Dignity of the Work and the Rights of Workers (no real contradiction concerning gay marriage)
Solidarity (working with people, not just for people)
Care for God's Creation (if god created gay people, then we must care for them)

That sounds pretty good.  The Vatican should take a look at that list because they most certainly don't follow it. 

(Not for this thread, or maybe only slightly, but even a person of average intelligence can explore the historical record of church and religion and see that it is a pointless, hate filled lie.  I can disprove every religion with one statement.  No one earth knows what happens to you when you die I know this for certain because I don't know what happens after you die and nothing that anyone else possesses can give them any greater insight than me.  So being against gay marriage is based on religion which is a lie, so therefore the argument is void.  All in favor of gay marriage say I...  "I"  all opposed say nay "..."  I's have it motion passes.)


Also what is with gays claiming rainbows.  I want to get a shirt with a rainbow on it, but I don't want to seem gay. I'll have a rainbow, and under it I'll put, 'Not Gay' ... 'But supportive.' How did one group of people get to claim refracted light?

And, they want rights cause then they can list themselves as a family, get the same tax breaks that heterosexual couples get, be able to get health insurance, and other things like that. So, point 2 to why you fail, you ARE discriminating against gays by not allowing them to marry. Go back to Kazakhstan you piece of shit.

I think this whole issue really boils down to self hate.  The self hate people feel when they are forced to confront the sexuality duality that exists in all of us.  This is the same reason that the most conservative, bible thumping, anti gay activists, turn out to be gay.  It's pretty sick that people are so scared of people finding love that they are willing to pull bull shit like this.

When I was younger I was very anti gay.  I though it was a disease to be avoided at all cost and gay people were sick individuals.  I didn't develop these ideas on my own, society told me how to act.  For this reason alone we need some type of education in schools about gay lifestyles.  Fucking bull shit.

you completely missed my point, which was saying that not allowing homosexals to get married to each other isnt discrimination. Not allowing jews to get married is completely different than not allowing guys to marry guys, or girls to marry girls. I never said that a straight guy WANTED to marry a gay guy. My point was that straight guys cant get married to gay guys either. THERE IS NOTHING THAT A STRAIGHT PERSON CAN DO THAT A GAY PERSON CANT. No, they cant marry each other, but STRAIGHT PEOPLE CANT EITHER. THAT was my point. I dont really have an opinion on whether or not they should be allowed to marry each other, I don't really care. First sentence breakdown.

There are things that heterosexual couples get from the government, take things, wills, insurance, that gay couples cannot. So yes, straight people CAN get things that gays can't.


Second sentence breakdown.

Right now, in most states gay people can't get married to other gay people. But you keep saying that a straight person couldn't get married to a gay person of the same sex either. Problem with that argument, WHY WOULD THEY WANT TOO?!

It is the exact same as saying a black guy can marry a white woman, if you can't see that then you have already failed.  If you don't care why do you voice your opinion?

Your right, straight couples can get things gay couples cant. I realize that, that isnt what im talking about. Im talking about gay people as individuals. Please, dont think about whether or not they would want to in what im about to say, it doesnt matter. If a gay guy were to marry a straight woman, he would still have the same rights as everyone else. He would be able to do everything a straight guy can.

Let us say, that being homosexual, was the norm, and that being straight was considered, as you seem to think "weird", "wrong", or "not normal". Now, you were told you could not marry someone of the opposite sex for said reasons and are forced to marry another member of the same sex when, that isn't how your sexual orientation because people think:
"oh, all they want is the breaks and stuff that married couples get, just marry and gay guy and you can get all that instead of marrying a girl."
Think about how you would feel if that were the situation. And then pull your head out of the Pope's asshole and wake the fuck up.
