this movie is getting major hype, and ppl are saying they cant sleep n shit after watching it. Anyone out there that can give me an honest opinion on whether or not its really that scary ?

not scary, i laugh at a few parts. the who first part of the movie is boring and dumb but its awesome when the thing is fucking with the girl. To watch it free online here is the link http://www.watch-movies-online.tv/movies/paranormal_activity/ ya now you can give me some karma for posting that.

its an 11 thousand dollar movie/ its not that scary/ you dont see the ghost, most you get are prints around the house/ everything "scary" happens at night when they are sleeping/ its all sounds, doors slamming and lights turning on/ anyone who is honestly that scared of it is a wuss/ if anything its more funny because of all the stuff the guy says

call me a pussy but..

me and my buddy went to watch a movie a few nights ago we were gona see law abiding citizen but it wasnt playing so we bought a random ticket and were decideing between wild things or whatever its called and paranormal activity we get to the lobby where they sell popcorn and ask the kids working there who are both like 15 which is better.. the kids tell us paranormal activity was scary as fuck... and we're like ye watever lets see it.. the one kids like no guys i could only watch half of it and another kid that works here almost pissed himself.. the other kids (goth as fuck) starts telling us he hasn't slept the last 2 nights after watching it were just like wow you guys are both pussys and we start walking in the direction of the paranormal activity theater... and the kids working the lobby are like wait wait wait i turn around and the kid looks me in the eyes and says,  I wish... I never watched it.... in the most sirious voice i have ever herd and I was stoned as fuck and for some reason didn't go see it and went and saw wild things which was gay as fuck and now I have to go back to the movies sometime soon to see paranormal activity cause i wana see it so bad.

my bros sister slept in her parents room the next 2 nights after seeing it and shes 14... as far as im concerned it fucks with people, I wana see it pretty bad

I just watched it and its not that scary. Its a decent movie for their small budget but i dont think ill watch it again. plus i was very disappointed in the ending.

to all you who say it wasnt scary, could you watch it alone at your house at like 1 in the morning and still not be scared?

Ok so I am not one who likes scary movies so i was scared to go see this. I went with my girlfriend and she was scared shitless to the point we stayed up all night cuz she was scared (and for other reasonss xD) but I actually laughed at most parts. It might be because i was "taking care'  of my girlfriend but i wasnt scared, the other guy I was with said it was kinda scary for him as well.

it depends on whether you choose to get in to it or not.  my roommate and i watched it high last night and i thought it was a damn good horror movie.  Just like any horror movie, however, if you spend the entire time refusing to dive in you'll walk away nonplussed. 

download http://www.isohunt.com's screener copy.  It has the original ending, which is amazingly better than the gay theatrical one.

thank you.  those of you who say it was stupid simply refused to get into it and have no imagination.  put yourself in their position.  it's the same reason why you probably didn't like The Blair Witch Project either. 

...you don't have to be high.  you don't have to be a pussy.  let your imagination wander, think "wow, this is pretty ridiculous, what if this was me" and think about it a little bit.  if you try not be scared, you won't be.  if you immerse yourself in the movie experience, it'll be pretty fun.

I found it really interesting, I didn't realize people were crying in the theater untill after the movie was over. I was sitting there like "wow! dude this is awesome..!".

What is this talk of a different ending ? is the theatrical one the one where:

i saw it in theatres and it didnt end like that. the chick just whipped the boyfriend at the camera and then like sniffs him and then attacks the camera again and thats it.

alright movie, i wouldnt say it was scary at all in the theatres but i was a tad spooked walking around my house when it was pitch black. not nearrrr as bad as the hype, didnt live up at all.

There are like 4 endings guys.

My opinion is that it was really well done, I havent had the ebst slepts the past two nights and i saw the theater verison on tuesday. Plus it doesnt help that i have the attic door thing in my room right next to my bed too.

Go see it, honestly really good movie.

shits nuts though and its all plausible, like they have documented evidence of the whole movie (they kept a diary in real life) and video accounts of most of that stuff happening to others

No, I couldn't because my house was built in 1853 and weird ass shit happens all the time (doors shutting, strange feelings, etc.) even though the doors only shut because the house is drafty as fuck. But my room is on the far side of the house away from my parents, and after I saw the movie I was glad I was at school in VT and not back home in CT haha. My house was built by like my 3rd great grandfather so the only ghosts here are relatives so they don't fuck with us too much haha.

One story I have from my house freaked the shit out of me. I was sleeping in my room, it was probably like 2 in the morning, and something tapped the side of my head, like a finger, and woke me up. There was no one in the room. This happened like a year ago but it scared the fucking shit out of me, even though it was probably just my own finger that for some reason tapped myself awake.

If you live in an old ass house, this movie is pretty freaky.

Only scary thing was, when I watched this movie, it was with my two sisters, one of their bf's, and my gf. The next night, my gf and I were home along sleeping in a room similar to the one in the movie. I wasn't that scared, but I kept imagining her waking up and staring at me, and then ultimately killing me.

its pretty scary id say but why would you see a scary movie if you dont want to be scared? its a great movie for 11 grand or whatever, pretty unique in terms of horror movies (its not just gore/porn) and not hollywood at all
