Tokina 10-17mm Fisheye

My homie has that for his nikon, its legit, at least im pretty sure its that lens.

if your looking for something in that focal range but dont mind if it isnt a fisheye, tokina's 11-16 is pretty dope. I haven used/read up on the fisheye b/c i wasnt looking for one, but if its anything like the 11-16, it will be dope!

Yes heard the tokina 11-16mm is quite comparable to a lot of the top brand lenses, was going to get it myself but i have a nikon fx and its only works for  the 1.6x crop (dx).

Thanks for the advice but I'm looking for specifically a fisheye. And please never post a link to a review by Ken Rockwell, he is a moron. Please don't even get me started on the dumb things he has said.

Used one of these on a 40D.  It's an awesome lens, one of the few affordable choices for Canon.  If you're looking for a nikon fish, the 10.5 is your best bet.

Plus if you ever go 1.3 crop or FF, you can hold onto this lens.

well first of all no one can be a moron if they do tests to back up what they say and show it. its more helpful reading that site than a lot of others. If i were you i would go by what this "moron" says rather than some place like dp-review or some flickr pictures

Reasons why Ken Rockwell is a moron: He does full length in-depth reviews of products he has never used. He constantly bashes cannon with no real reasoning behind what he says. He called Leica's cheaply made, he also said Leica's felt cheap. Leica's for fucks sake, who the fuck bashes leica's? If you want me to find more reasons as to why Ken Rockwell is a moron, I can for you.

and FYI straight quotes about a leica camera from his site:

another fyi is that the feel of the camera is an opinion and they obviously do feel wierd just look at them they are wierd looking.  he also always talks about canon in good ways even over nikon stuff


not meaning to bash on you but this guy does know what hes talking about and some of the stuff is opinion but the stuff you should be paying attention to is the studies.

um with the copyrighting thing i believe he was just making his point. and everything he said there was true and good information.


with the d40 it was one of the best cameras that nikon made, almost every picture that nikon had on their website was taken by pro's using d40's until the beginning of this year.

6mp will look the same as any 12mp when showing it up to like 8x10in, 12mp is higher resolution than your computer screen so you say its a amazing photo from your screeen then your saying a 6mp picture looks good so why not shoot in 6mp if its not for anything huge. When you crop a picture in half which a lot of people do its changing it into a 6mp picture from a 12mp picture so might as well shoot at 6mp and frame things perfect while you can and save computer space.

Ya ... srly if you want a reallly nice fish.. just get the 10.5.. I've been shoting with it for about 6 months and it's sick! small, light, bombproof (believe me), wonderful clolors/contrast... Just get it!

Though I have not personally used it, that lens does have a very good reputation.

Picked it up yesterday, stoked on it already. Thanks to everyone who gave me good advice and thanks for people agreeing with me that Ken Rockwell is in fact a moron. Anyways here's a picture of my dog with the new lens.

Yo Yo, I've got it for my Canon 40D. Im real pleased with it, I dont have a ton of sample pics I could show you, but if you go on my flickr below I know theres at least one shot of Chris Logan at mount snow if you want a simple example. It's deffinatly a super nice lens, gives you a real fun range to shoot at.

While I agree that a lot of the stuff he says is complete bull, he does have some usefull stuff on his website. Things like noise tests between different cameras, sharpness, how to correct for CA in photoshop, etc... are pretty useful sometimes. You just cant read most of what he says without getting a very biased/insane view on stuff.

Don't believe Ken Rockwell. If anything justifies that you should ignore his site, it would be this:
