So like the freeskiing community we have the lovely ns. And snowboarding has transworld. Does longboarding have there own online community? kinda really looking into getting into it. It seems like it would be a blast. Anybody know if they have one? google didn't help me for once.

If you want a board for carving you have to buy an Original board.  Best. Board. Ever.

They are pretty expensive though.  If its too much for you you could get some REvenge trucks, I think they do sort of the same thing.

Alright i'll look into them. Are Flexdex ones anygood? the l37 looks pretty sick. I'm lookin like full set up for under 250 or 275 if its really makes that big of a difference.

Flexdex boards are really durable but I hear really bad things about them.  Supposedly they just don't flex at all and are really stiff and lifeless.

Original Longboards has trucks that have a spring instead of a bushing, so its different from a regular skateboard.  Its like riding a snowboard. Its really, really fucking sweet.

Don't let anyone talk you into or out of buying a specific brand of longboards: almost every brand makes fine boards altough not every board they make is a fine board... get it?

i myself am extremely stoked with my sector 9 pipeline/uluwatu; completely stock model: its quite heavy thus great for pushing; great bearings (have no idea what bearings but they're really smooth!) and fine trucks (gullwing alpine) not too expensive and since it's stock you won't have to ponder numerous hours about what setup is best for you...
you can do that with the second board you buy. Your first one is a trial and error anyway....

The problem is its incredibly small in ohio. and after many days of research i am tired of looking for a company around here that sells stuff. and of my current friends i am the first getting into longboarding. my other friend in which i ski with is starting too.

All of the boards are carving boards because of the trucks.  Personally I have a Derringer 28 but its my board for carrying around and skating to work and at school and stuff.

Make sure if you want one though that you research the trucks, because like I said, they are quite different from regular trucks, it might not be what you are looking for.  It won't be good on steep hills for example, its not stable enough.  I don't really take mine over 20mph which is pretty slow.  Its not great for absolute beginners either but I'm not exactly Tony Hawk and its fine for me.

But it is seriously one of the best feeling things in the world once you get used to the trucks for a few days.

If you are totally sure you want a carving only board, for sure get an Original.  If you are just starting out longboarding and want to try some carving, light downhill, dancing, etc, get a Kracked Skulls board.  They are really cheap and fine for everything.

^Also don't get a Sector 9, the gullwing trucks are not fine at all.  Couple of their decks are ok but the hardware is terrible.

Yeah theres no hills where i live. i just want it to have fun. I don't really wanna do super complex tricks like with a skateboard. I'd like to have something to just cruise and make a few sick looking turns with. But for the most part i need it for fun and transportation.

kahuna hydro is a cheap fun board, and very unique graphic too.
also if you wanna drop a little more money, pick up the newish bamboo landyachtz drop carve, very snappy and fun, and stiff enough to be stable at speeds

if you want really good advice, check out some of the reviews on silverfishlongboarding, or post in the noob questions thread, they are fairly noob friendly and will respond pretty promptly

Yeah it looks like there pretty chill about noobs. There probably a lot like freeskiing was a year or two ago. Still small and nobody annoying. I really want to longboard. It looks so fun. Like a lot of people said they lost interest in skiing because of it.

I have this too and I like it quite a bit. Its just the right size for hills and simple commuting. I think I'd like a symmetrical board next time for shuvits and stuff though. I really would like the loaded vanguard.
