Okay, so I pan on buying a Canon HD camera within the next month. (I feel like canon makes the best shit for video, don't know why) I've been doing a lot of research online but thought I would come here to get some more insight. There seems to be some good members on this forum with video knowledge.
My budget is about -$700. So far I have narrowed it down to the HV30 or the HF200 (or similar SD card models)
I know the HV30 is a dope camera, uses mini dv and has some good external upgrades available. I don't really mind the time it takes to import mini dv footy, but the SD camera seems a lot easier to deal with in terms of workflow. I've also read that the HV30 records in HDV while the HF200 and similar models record in AVCHD...and that it is sometimes harder to edit with some computers (I am currently running on a new macbook pro so I shouldn't have any issues) Are there any other advantages/disadvantages? What else should I be researching....I plan on filming all sorts of things from skiing and skating to indoor shots and time lapses, ect...
I still have a lot to learn but I just want some insight from you guys to see If I'm going in the right direction, and if there's other things I should be considering....
By the way, I have the opportunity to buy a mint HV30 for $550 w/ 3 filters, 5 mini dv tapes, extra battery and a case....and I have found websites selling both these cameras for significantly under $700...
So just school me on all this shit I want to learn everything!
