TR: Antarctica ski trip 2008 with video

One year ago we boarded a ship in Ushuaia, Argentina to head to Antarctica for a skiing adventure. It was an amazing experience to say the least.It has taken me one year to finally produce a video from all the footage I shot while we were there. There's some good skiing footage, and a lot of amazing wildlife & scenery shots. Warning to typical NS regular, the video has more skinning, and wildlife than skiing but is still pretty good if you are interested.The video is embedded in a short blog post and can be found here;http://www.somegood.ca/Site/Blog/Entries/2009/10/31_Antarctica_Ski_Cruise_2008_video.htmlI suspect there will be a few photos floating around some of the ski magazines from our trip in the coming months.Ice Axe Expeditions is setting sail for Antarctica again any day with another boat load of skiers. Hopefully some reports from their trip starts filing in soon.

unbelievably cool opportunity, i've never heard of people skiing there.

Great footage and that looks like an awesome opportunity. I always pictured antarctica as too flat to ski on for some reason, I guess not. It must have felt cool skiing on a continent so few people had gotten the chance to.

Ignore the first reply, not all of us here are afraid to leave the park, or will at least enjoy watching the penguins.

Thanks all. Glad you like it. I was very fortunate. It was the trip of a lifetime.

Fould- It actual trip to Antarctica was 14 days but since we were going that far we took over 4 weeks and hung out in Argentina and Chile for an extra few weeks. A room on the ship cost about 5,000 per person then add flights, other hotels, food, etc.... It was a year ago, and we just about paid it off. But I'd do it again.

The penguins are giving you the "what the hell are you doing here?" look, lol. And there were so many of them too, it looked crowded. That was pretty awesome though.
