Anyone who has a bit of detail or experience with these two skis want to give me a quick comparison? I demoed the Czars for two days last year and thought they were really fun skis, they didn't have any that were long enough (just 164's left) but still skied well. Anyway, I'm looking to buy some pow/all mountain skis this season and theres alot of good deals on last years LLs, so I'm wondering how they stack up.
i got some time on the live lifes last year..i liked them alot.. I only got to ride them for a few park laps..but they are light, and playfull..i know nothing about the czars.
same kinda experience.. had the czars last year only got about 7 days on them tho, but 6 were deep. skis are super playful in the 182 length, but have enough backbone to mach chop if u want and be stable.
I have ridden the Czars for one day. I thought they were pretty good, but fairly heavy, they float pretty good forwards, but the lack of tail rocker kind of spoilt them for me.. you could still slash turns but it wasn't an effortless feeling, landing switch was again, possible but not as easy as a tip/tail rocker ski. I haven't ridden the Live Life itself, but it has tail rocker, stiff flex, and is definitely lighter than the Czar. To be honest i think they are quite similar but i think at least in theory the Live life has the czar beaten in every way.. Easier on groomed (Czars have like 40m radius), slightly more rockered, tail rocker for effortless slashes and switch skiing, lighter and Surface have unbeatable customer service..
actually if we are being pedantic, Surface measures the 3 stage rocker by the angle of the slope. Live Lifes have a 4 degree sloped rocker and LL2s have 8 degrees I believe. But yes the 08/09 Live Life definitely has both tip/tail rocker. The new Live Life only has early rise tips and regular tails.
check out a quick new product video from surface, Live Lifes are featured, shows them having just a small amount of gradual tip rocker, and very small tail rocker. No matter, Id ride Live Lifes over Czars any day. Cheaper, fatter, lighter, better. In my opinion.
