Best job on the mountain?

I'm hoping to work at my local mountain and the job choices were: Rentals, Snack Bar attendant, teaching little kids, and janitorial. I can't really decide what my top choices were. Any insight on the best out of these?

if your cool with young kids, then definately go for the teaching.  you sometimes get tips from parents.

you should be proud of me,,, usually the first few posts are smart ass super clever witty comments, however i've restrained myself

if i had that choice i would teach the kids. you can get tips from parents on top of your salary too

The only problem I had with teching is the hours were sometimes fucked. spend an 8 hour day but with the gaps between lessons I would only log 4.5 hours.

If there is a spot open in the pro shop, look for that.

Snack bar sounds like a cake job. I was a barista (made coffee) and it was pretty hectic at times but was easy. I had 4pm-10pm on fridays which was very busy with school programs and parents.

I also did park crew. Hours were horrible. Sometimes I'd work 8am-4am or 10pm-12am. They were hectic and I could never plan anything because we were only notified a couple hours before. It was extremely fun though.

Haha we have a park warden that just snowboards the park and make sure everyone's ok. He helps out the park crew when its needed but since my hill's so small he doesn't usually have to lol its sick

You have to be 16 for the pro shop and also park crew. I was going to try hasseling my way into park crew because they just ski around and fix stuff around the park

cant say too much about any of those except janitor shit might be night like homeboy up there said which is good. rental tech could be cool cause some places do split shift so you can ride er day for like 5 hours. teaching kids is aight if you like gettin high and having fun (sometimes) with kids on snow. some are hilarious.

Cafeteria! You can eat food and you get mad discounts on ur days when u ride. Also where ill be working i get afternoon shifts that start at 1.

im probably working in rentals this season. i dont think itll be that bad. i only work like 21 days plus holidays (its some special sched for students) and i work like 1-2 hours in the morning, ski a little in between, and then another 2 hours in the afternoon.

they work the hardest and get payed the least, first rule about any mountain, i worked rentals/tech, maintaince, i made snow, maintaince and making snow was so rewarding but hard work, tech/rentals will teach you stuff you could apply to skiing for the rest of your life, lessons is nice though just becasue your on the snow,

yo, then you are fortunate.  when i worked i got 40%(which is still expensive for ski food), no bathroom breaks, and no lift ticket bennys.  Plus.... the worst thing about it, or any job on the hill,  you have to sit there and watch every1 shreddin,  yo fuck that that's torture

i work lift ops. so damn easy, it blows when its cold out and you wanna ski, but i stand around and get payed to mess around, and i just chill there in the booth on the top of the hill, along with awesome chillng

I've taught little kids and I've also been a lifty, and I can say that without a doubt, I'd much rather teach then be a lifty.

Being a lifty kinda sucked, standing outside in the cold watching all these people have fun, shredding the pow... It was especially depressing when sitting at the top of the lift... If you like sitting in a hut watching the snow blow listening to music and watching your friends wave at you before they go rip lines.... depressing.

Teaching was more fun, you get some cool little kids sometimes, but it can really go either way, there are some brats for sure.

I would say be a busser, or a cashier in the caf. Rental tech would suck on days where you get elementary/highschool kids coming in.... but i dunno how often that really happens, never worked rentals.

Chillest job by far would probably be patrol, but I really can't say as I've never been a patrol guy. Always wanted to. Go ski around, help people, fuck around with stoners (funny story). Sounds like a decent job. Probably need some first aid training, and need to be older though.

Ouch dude. That sounds like a weak hill. Or a greedy ass hill.

As for torture, i know your pain. I worked lifts last year, and it just so happened I was scheduled on the day it dumped 50cm over night.

People got to ski it, I got to shovel it. Yay lift ops!!!

Like someone said above, during peak hours it'll suck so much. But when it's slow you'll either get to a) mack on girls walking by or b) get off work early to go ride.

K,  last thing to add.  No matter what position you choose to take, make it a goal to get to know the managers of all the departments, and get on there good side.  yo, i'm not sayin get down on all fours and startt suckin cock, unless u like that shit

But friends in high places = tickets for friends, rentals for friends, food for friends, and demos for YOU..... etc

free ski passes
get paid to ski if you dont have a lesson
little kids are lots of fun
and if your really good with kids, their parents like to tip

yo work the snack bar. ive been doing it for the past 3 years now, free pass, free food (even on days you dont work, just be cool with the people you work with)

its not that serious of a job, not too many rules, you get to talk with hot girls that pass through the lines, did i say eat FREE FOOD... and you get paid.
