i dont think it was meant to be dirty, you could see he was aiming for the chest.

he had his shoulder lined to his chest.

im undecided on whether it was completely dirty or not. i like both players

it looks like he was hit in the jaw/side of the face... there are a lot of nerves in the jaw which make knocking someone unconscious pretty easy. Most big knockouts in the UFC are from shots to the jaw.

newer football helmets are molded to absorb impact to the jaw much better than their predecessors, but hockey helmets don't protect that area. Mouth guards reduce the chance of getting a concussion greatly too... maybe he wasn't wearing one?

I hate how other players stop the play after someone gets rocked cleanly. If its a dirty hit i get it, but when someone has their head down and they get raped the play shouldnt get stopped because some faggot wants to start a fight over it.

messier kills modano and theres no fight after. thats how it should be. big hits that are clean shouldnt have any retaliation. messiers hit was pretty dirty too. richards hit on booth was borderline.

the nhl really has to start cracking down on hits like that, careers of promising players are ending way to early.
