I am looking to buy an HD camcorder. I done some research on HD camcorders and looked at different reviews. Online reviews of cameras are not ski specific so my question is what is something that would be good for filming skiing? I want something under $400 that has nice HD picture and will good for making videos. Advice would be much appreciated +Karma.
thanks

raise your dollar amount a bit. check out canon hv30 or hv 40 and panasonic hdc sd100....im torn right now with those choices, i wanna go HV series but canon accessories are so damn expensive.
also, make sure your editing program can handle HD video. doesnt matter what camera you have if youre using windows movie maker

400 is far too low for a good hd camera, check out hv30s tho sound like what you want.

^ Dang 400 is about my budget. Is there anything you can even suggest for 400? Would getting a used hv30 be worth it?
thanks

Keep in mind this has a hard drive. And Hard drives have moving parts which makes them easier to break while skiing...

I suggest you look in to a camera with SD storage. 16gb card's are cheap

If you want a decent hand held camera, you should look at about 700-800 dollrs, try the Canon Vixia HF100, I think... If you want a good HD Helmet cam, Vholdr is coming out with a 1080P cam this winter, and GoPro just released their 1080P model. Both are pretty sweet, and only 300 bucks. The GoPro has a battery warmer, its uber waterproof, but has rediculously wide video, it distorts alot. The Vholdr is smaller, not as gay looking, and has a much better video angle.
Both of the helmet cams can do 30 frames/sec at 1080, or 60 frames/sec at 720, which is friggin sweet.
You can find some sample footage on teh intarwarb. Hope that helps.
