High school dances

So, i've been recently selling promoting and selling dance tickets to my school for fundraiser. Now usually everyone usually goes pretty smashed to dances but there was announcement today that they would have breathalyzers at the door, now i'm wondering, is this legal to do? Now I'm going either way because i have to but i would like to have some brews in me if you know what i mean and I'm a bit sketched out now as i have already have a underage drinking incenetadent that i wasnt charged for, and i dont want to be charged.

So I'm wondering, will the school go through with this? I mean i know its illegal to do dog seaches and they tried that as a scare tatic last year, so im thinking this will be the same.

so yeah that happened at my old school a couple years ago. if you go drunk you'll probably get caught. its legal for them to do, but if you get caught they will just turn you away, i dont think they ever called the cops on anyone at my school for it

Idk, if it's a private event the they can do what ever they want really.  I wouldn't risk it.

they can definitely do it, and it's definitely not a great idea. c'mon, at a school dance? not worth it at a school event imho.

yes they can Breathalyze you... why not just do what we did in highschool show up basically as late as you can get pics go to the dance for like an hour and then leave to an after party where u can get as fucked up as you can... just wait the 3 hours...

it most certainly is legal, and usually when they do these they have cops there administering the test. My advice-go with some friends, have fun, and save the drinking till after, then go crazy.

wait til after. i wouldnt drink and tell your date to wait til after too. its not worth it so many kids get busted and kicked off sports teams/honors programs and shit

So there is this concert i really want to go to but everybody always shows up to shows wasted, but this time they said they will have breathalyzers.  Is this even Legal?

Of course its legal.  You are underage, a cop can ask to give almost anyone a breathealyzer, sure you can refuse put the consequences arnt worth it. 

I seriously slapped myself in the forhead when i read the part where you asked if it was legal to give suspicious underage kids breathalyzers before a school dance.  They did this to me in 2001 when i was in HS

Don't drink before school functions dude. idk about at your school but if you get caught at my school you are immediately expelled. Just go to an afterparty and get drunk there.

I just went to my senior homecoming and they were breathalizing. They actually made all us sign a form for consent for a random test, our parents had to sign it and all. Just go and take a dance for what it is. Socialize and what now. I mean if there is a dance floor and you can groove, groove out. But it's not worth being drunk at. Get a 3 forties and a 30 for you and a few buddies for after(Preferably 3 kids). And have the time of your life, get some tang.

Umm yeah its legal for them to check, you with a breathilizer test, only if they have suspission that you have been drinking. other then that they are NOT allowed to check you, now suspission is from staggering into the dance, maybe if your not such a strong drinker like you can hold your liquor then they wont notice and cant check you, if you smell thats a good enough reason for them to check you, take some mints, then  when you get in your good

new jersey v TLO => you do not have rights in school. quit bitching and deal with it is my advice. dogs, breathalyzers, locker searches, book bag/purse searches are all legal. the 4th amendment does not apply in schools.

id be careful if i were you.. a lot of kids at my old high school have been getting "fucked by the long dick of the law" recently for going to dances under the influence. Id say dont risk it, and save the partying for college. then you can drink your brains out.

your school can do whatever it wants with school dances. they'll just say it's to ensure the saftey of their students. my guess is that they'll just breathalize whoevers sketchy.

um... they definitely can.  i understand wanting to drink or smoke before, but if theres gonna be cops smoking is especially hard to hide. maybe just get some axe and eyedroppers

damn, atleast u get dances, my school only lets is have 1 maybe 2 dances a year thanks to people a few years ago that were always smashed at dances. they dont let us have any fun :(

Had the first of two dances my school has (Halloween-ish themed dance in the fall, "prom" but not really prom in the spring.... just a ballin formal) and was soooo wasted, best night I've had in forever even though the after party, which some random kid organized in a condo downtown, got so fucked that the kid who rented the place is having a lawsuit filed against him.........

yeah my school breathalyzes, but people (guys and girls) put like bottles in the bathrooms pretty much everywhere....but then the admin. found some of them and breathalyzed on the way out of the dance too. so in conclusion, you shouldn't drink on campus for whatever reason; its too risky

ya theyve been doing it at my school for a few years. and  if you think thats bad the other school 20 minutes from mine now has a rule that they must keep the gym lights on for all dances. that must have been so gay ahah.

As long as you're not suspicious looking they won't test you. So just act as sober as possible until you're through the gates, then you're home free. At my last dance so many people were caught drunk that we can't have anymore, well besides prom.

we had this same thing at our school you only get breathalyzed if you act REALLLLLY drunk
if you dont cause any trouble you wont get any
and you only get a drive home if you do get caught

the SRO straight took my keys and walked out to the parking lot. its called parental consent law or something, and if one of my parents is present it doesnt mean shit. so i was like nope im calling my dad im not saying anything. he basically said too bad and clicked my remote 5000 times till he found my car.
