Jooky, you do not need to make URLs into links.  If you surround an image URL with [IMG] ... [/IMG] it will be displayed as a thumbnail.

Your first attempt did not work because the URL was for an HTML page, not an image file.

I'm really worried about my viewing pictures also.  Any image appears on my IE browser as the box with the x in it.  I can still enlarge it, but don't want to do that for every image.  WHat to do?
