After watching each move multiple times I have come to the conclusion that EDIAS is far superior. I know this is true because every shot in EDIAS is better produced, filmed, and placed more artfully into an edit than its less-than-Refreshing counterpart. Dane Tudor shows up and proves that he is THE most well-rounded skier out today and Poor Boyz captures it perfectly. Due to this and the rest of its star-studded cast EDIAS delivers more bangers-per-minute than any other ski movie to date. Period.
This is not to say that Refresh did not have its standouts. Philip Casabon dethrones Wallisch and succeeds him as the new king of technical handrail style. There is a strong showing from a few other riders, but the movie simple lacks the “What the FUCK!?!?!†factor that EDIAS relentlessly forces into each viewer's eyes. The smallest features tricked in EDIAS rival the biggest features hit in Refresh.
EDIAS is the best ski movie to come out in ten years, and Durtchi's and Tudors segments are the best in recent history. Refresh is a good movie, but in the end feels like a slightly repackaged Level 1 flick from years past.
