energy efficiency IS a problem.. not "going to be" . and the obama administration released last week that feds will not be pursuing anyone who is a legal medical marijuana user/grower/seller. so.. its a step in the right direction.

make a federal law that prohibits the monopolization of healthcare, realistically your teacher wont be too stoked to read about how we should legalize tree.

whoever brought up the death penalty one, i think it would be a good idea. i actually brought it up in class today, and my teacher found someway to say that that would be unconstitutional. il find a way around it

#1 - there are def. good arguments to be made for this, but everyone in the world has done a report on it so the teacher is gonna be bored to death by the time his comes up. For a good grade its best do shake up the pot a bit.

#2 - goes against Bill of Rights, aka not a good idea

#3 - He is talking about federal laws, there is no federal law prohibiting prostitution.

as for my actual Idea, mix it up a bit.

Go to war with someone. Declaring war is actually making a new law.

If you wanted to make it intresting you could try and write a law for going to war with the Taliban. That would be an intresting one. The taliban has no set boarders, yet it does have a semi-formal government.

On the death penalty thing.

The current law is that cruel and unusual pusnishment is not OK. The rest is really up to the states. If someone thinks that the death penalty is cruel and unusual then they take it to the supreem court. Not congress, who makes laws. So really the death penalty debate is about interpreting the law, not writing new ones.

Also keep in mind that the states do almost all the corrective stuff in state. It is the NYDC or the CADC.

Also it is department of corrections, not department of punishment. The goal is to correct the individual and improve society, not punish them. The death penalty is really for when our society decides that there is no possible benifit to society, and probably some negative effects, to keep the convict alive.

Though I'm not really sold on the fair tax, I'm not quite sure how someone could think this.  The fair tax is still a progressive tax, one that may create a lot of business growth in a time when business growth is really needed.  How the hell would it "destroy any chance of a middle class?"
