I think he's good, don't get me wrong. But i think he receives so much hype that it has become beyond the scope of how good his music is. IMO it has become somehow "cool" to like him. Like if you like Kid Cudi, that makes you cool, and then you can tell people you listen to kid cudi, and for some reason that makes you cooler.

To me, it is like taking something good, then hyping it up way too much, then turning it into something it isn't.

I'm trying to come up with another example of an artist that this has happened to....I feel like at some point it happened with Lil Wayne (STFU everyone i'm not saying wayne is good or bad). But at some point it became "cool" to like Lil Wayne. His music started being played everywhere, everyone and their mother had to listen to A Milli and Lollipop and it just made him seem worse because everybody was hyping it up so much.

Just my 2 cents is all.

yeah, I see where you come from. I lurk on Kid Cudi's forum and a BAPE forum and everyone on there sucks his dick just because they think its cool. Then a real Cuddler asks them why they like him and they don't give a valid reason. I like his music, his flow, and the mellowness of his songs, yet how they can get the point across. Day n Nite is almost an eerie song, but its reaaal dope. The prayer has kinda the same tone as Day N Nite, but its more about whoever he's rapping about being ready to die.

He is the nicest most humble main stream artist I have ever met and will always support him no matter how big he gets. I cant wait till the tour coming this winter, I will be seeing him in Philly and in NYC.

personally i try to find the artists that not everybody listens to or knows because i just like the stuff outside of the radios powers to wear out a song. but cudi's just got good soul in his music and makes a good chill beat

I really like a lot of his songs, but the ones that I don't like, I really hate.
I think Day N Nite has gotten overplayed.  I really liked it, but then listened to it too much and now I don't like it as much.  Overall, I think he's a solid artist and that he puts out good music.  I did have to make a KuDi playlist with only the songs I like from him though.
The hype is kind of annoying, because I remember when I liked him and people were like, his shit sucks, but then everyone started to like him and now those same people are on his dick. (trying my hardest not to sound like a snob).
Basically, ignore the hype, and just listen to music because you like it.

i've never really been able to get into cudi..
his music all sounds exactly the same to me, his flow is just kinda dull

and i feel like it's all geared towards stoners or wanna-be stoners

man on the moon and pursuit of happiness are both good though, and his mixtape was miles better than the album

he hits the literature side of things more than the entertainment which is rare for an artist like that to hit mainstream. maybe america is finally coming around... maybe not.

my snob-o-meter has been going off throughout this entire thread. listen, just because you found him "before he went mainstream" doesnt give you guys the right to shit on people who like his shit after it was played on the radio. Personally, i think some of his songs are solid but some suck. regardless, people are get too into being non-conformist for the sake of being non-conformist (that is listening to non-mainstream shit so that they can say that they don't). if people like it then all the more power to them (unless its wayne, dude blows).

He has some sick songs, but he is incredibly overhyped.

its a fucking annoyance when you know a song, and someone finds it. and thinks theyre the shit. then they sing it and your like "howd you find that song" and they go "cause i find good songs" and you get wicked pissed cause you knew it first.

i love cudi... i have to disagree with the whole overrated thing because nobody i know (except my brother and me) actually really listens and loves his music. they might be like "oh yeah, i love kid cudi, day n nite is a dope song" well thats cuz its played on the radio.

bottom line cudi is amazing and his album is seriously like a friend to me but his music isnt for everybody.
