HELP Persuade my school that digital media production is an ART

so im a junior in college now and i need to take 2 art classes to fill my distributions, it could be anything from 2-D design to pottery, i dont wana deal with that stuff i want to take intro to digital media production, basicly they give you a camera you use FCP and get creative, but my school is telling since its a communications class its considered a huninaties class, and its not an art, ive spoken to make people and they say if i can put up a good argument saying that digital media production is an art it will most likely fly,  i know what i want to say just looking for more imput

please help so i can get a killer schedual and still get the stuff i need done...the question.........

How can Intro to digital medial be considered an art class? HELP

Ive allready told them it is just as much an art as pottery, graphic design, and sculpture, and that many of the most prestegious art college across the US have huge medial production sections and the lower lever administration aggred with me, i just need to formulate a response so i can take it to the provose and the school board and hopefully persuade some peoples oponions

tell them i said its art

but seriously, i dont think youll have a problem making that argument. if you like film so much you obviously have the appreciation for it to sculpt a good argument

RIT's digital media major is portfolio based admission (cough *art* cough) Its actually called new media design, you use after effects and make web graphics. I think its parallel to what you want to join. They have one of the strongest new media programs in the country

just show them some awesome footage of a bunch of different stuff and while ur showing them point out like see how he works witht the light on this one.. stuff like that might work... dont hate though its just a suggestion

anyone know any great videos (edits) that are awesome from a cinimatic perspective, that i could show the administration at my school, ie, different techniques, great uses of light and negative space and so on, to save me some time, i know im being lazy
