Background info...
It's a mk2 polo squareback, the chasis has done 88k miles but it has a ~60k mk3 GT engine in. This will be run on bike carbs with a homebrew P&P'd head and naughty side exit until next summer when I will hopefully have built a race spec 1400 16v on ITBs.
The chasis consists/will consist of homemade front coilovers H&R dampers and undecided springs, custom, rose jointed, wide tracked front end imcorporating a PPP subframe and camber adjust top mounts with a few sets of 13 or 14 x7 wheels with various tyres, Wilwood brakes, the car has a fully welded in cage (which I understand I can modify to triangulate in to the front strut tops). KW v2 coilovers on the rear and a G40 rear beam with rebuilt drums.
Everything I can has been relocated into the rear of the car, this means: ally fuel tank, race battery, washer bottles etc...
Bodywork wise I have a fibreglass bonnet with Aerocatch bonnet pins (+go, +show!) and am in the process of moulding custom Berg-esque front wings, doors boot and rear quarters from fibreglass. A carbon fibre roofskin will be making it's way onto the car as soon as I get hold or a non-sunroof roof to take a mould from. The paint will be Candy White, which will go well with the multitude of carbon parts I've been hoarding, including an ex-Prodrive, used in a WRC stage by Colin McRae steering wheel. I've a goal of 650kg when it's finished, should be fun with 150+ bhp next year!
I'm concentrating on getting the chasis ready and painting before I start to assemble parts, so it may not look like much but there should be a lot more progress now the cage is done!
Hope you enjoyed that essay, now for pictures. Beware WIP content!!
