Like many other people in this thread, hockey has always been a religious thing for me. Its blasphemy if you proudly bare a Canadian flag, but don't like hockey, thats my opinion anyways.
Hockey is to Canada as Football/Baseball is to the US.
I as Im sure many of you are very very surprised by the start that the Colorado Avalanche. After last years meltdown due to injury of key components and questionable netminders, I thought the Avalanche were a shoe-in for bottom-feeder status. I thought this was especially evident when they picked up Anderson from Florida, I viewed it as more of a side-grade then a solution. In my opinion someone like Khabibulin would have been my ideal choice if i was in that position. Boy how I was wrong. They are one of the hottest teams coming out of the gate and they look good. That being said, I do not think that they will be able to keep the pace they are running at now.
Last but not least.... Go Canucks Go... Luu with the new franchise shutout record last night, 21 in 214 games, eclipsing Captain Kirks record of 20 in 516. He also moves into a tie with Evgeni Nabokov for 3rd among active goaltenders in shutouts with 48, 24th on the All-time list.
