I am not the most experienced photographer, but I am seriously considering the 7D for stills and HD video, does anyone have any useful info on the camera?

thats the opposite of a starters camera, you should try like a rebel, 20/30/40D, then when your selling shit you can buy something like that

Are you using it to shoot stills or video? Either way, it is a sick camera. I sold my HVX200 for it and dont regret it one bit. It kills it for video and for stills. But, like mentioned above you do need know a bit about what you are doing. The video is about the same as shooting film, you dont have good auto controls so you have to be able to focus and expose all manually, plus it doesnt have any ENG features so no image stabilization or anything (get a GOOD tripod). That being said this is probably the most exciting thing that has come out this year, and for 1700 its a steal.

for legit video you will need a tripod as mentioned above and a rig if you plan to do handheld (not cheap) and probly a follow focus... be prepared to spend a lot more money on accessories if you want to do good video.
