Looking for a fresh start, best place to move to in BC

Im looking to move out to BC in January. Some of they key points of a potential place to move are affordable cost of living, good public transit system, close to decent mountains for skiing, and thriving construction sector. I know very little about BC`s economy and housing situation so any help would be wonderful.
Some background on me, im 19, VERY hard working and resourceful, not afraid to work 50 or 60+ hr weeks. Im currently working as a first year apprentice electrician and on top of that working for my dad a few hours a day and on weekends. Im going to trade school this monday,  and I finish in December.
Back home iv been looking for houses to buy and flip, but that ties me down to this useless city and i just need to get out.
Iv never been keen on the idea of renting but im going to have to if i move out to BC. The plan down the line will be to get into a cheap house that i can fix up (im a jack of all trades, I will do everything myself) and hopefully rent out a room or two to help pay the mortgage.
I know my first few years in BC will be tough but im hoping to get ahead of the game soon enough and start building a good life for myself. With all the sports I do i belong in the mountains, not in Saskatchewan. My original plans were to get ahead here then move out west, but I cant stand living a miserable life in this city.

please help me with anything possible, advice on cities to look into, links to web pages, anything at all that can be of use to me.

im from a small city, not anything big. Revelstoke has a pretty male population from what i remember, i guess thats one important thing is someplace with a decent amount of girls. right now in my city pretty much everyone moved to saskatoon for university.
I will look into revelstoke a bit tho so thanks for the suggestion.

so i did a little looking onto revelstoke and found there community site and looked at there stats and it may be promising, although the construction sector only makes up 6% of employment. im going to look into housing prices, i would assume with it being such a small community the prices will be lower

I know nothing about the area.. but maybe check out kelowna? seems kinda rural and its a nice city/town and also home of big white, silverstar, and im not sure what else.

if your looking for girls my vote is Kelowna. Big White is deece, Whis is a few hours away, SS and Sunpeaks are close to.

You forgot Vancouver there big guy. Nothing special it just has 3 moutains all within half an hour of eachother, all with night skiing, all the clubs bars and anything you could imagine downtown and is only and hour and bit from Whistler.

comox bro, mount wash 30 minutes away, rad lakes rivers and beaches in the summer, bunch of awesome music festivels comin to town everyyear, spot forsure. and construction wise, suburbs goin up everywhere up north on the island and nanaimo/vic has a bunch of projects goin on aswell

hmmm it seams nice. how is it for people around in there twenty's? or do most people move away to bigger cities? thats a big thing for me is a population base around my age, and women for sure. Im starting fresh wherever i move to so that means all new freinds in the process

kelowna has more hot girls than any city i have ever been to, and i live in montreal which has a decent amount, pretty big though and not really a "mountain" town. I would check out golden, which is an amazing place, nelson, canmore has a booming construction sector but is mad expensive

yeah i was thinking kelowna or maybe kamloops would be a good choice. iv never really spent that much time in either cities

my personal pick would be to take a look at fernie but it think the housing prices are pretty high there right now, it has a great ski town vibe goin and really good atmosphere

^ im looking to move to a bigger city then im in right now, something with everything in it. and of course the bigger the population,the more people there are to meet, which is key in moving to a new city and leaving everyone behind

Kelowna would be sick, any good university town is sweet. Comox is a sick place, close to surfing and skiing but i think alot of people get out for university. And mount washington is pretty lame there park sucks hard.

I really like penticton, i ride bikes there every spring with SCA, real nice country, close to apex, is it any good? i would assume there are lots of longboarders there? are there lots of younger people and girls there?

DON"T MOVE TO VANCOUVER ISLAND! Really don't. There are soo many better places in BC to go. Mt.Washington is not worth it. The park used to be good but not these past few years, the terrain is good but there is better in BC (Revelstoke, Silver Star, Whistler just to name a few.) and it gets old fast. The cost of skiing Washington is stupidly high. They have a monopoly on the island ski market and use it their full advantage. The pass prices have been rising the past few seasons with little additions or improvements to the mountain, hell right now they have the most expensive youth seasons pass in the prvince. I mean sure we have some lakes and rivers but what place in BC doesn't?

I mean yea there is also Mt.Cain but they are only open weekends and unless your big into backcountry skiing then there isn't enough there to keep you hooked all season. It's a small hill but if your lucky enough to be there when it dumps then it's nothing short of epic.

I'd look into towns like Kelowna or Revelstoke or even Vancouver.

apex is ok. the terrain there is fun. its never busy.

the park has been on a steady downwards slope though and is shit most of the time.

speaking of apex, anyone longboard the road heading up there? from what i remember road biking on it, it had nice wide corners and decent pavement, but i could be wrong

well i don't do any longboarding.

I saw two kids going down it once when I drove up in the summer though... but I really couldnt say if it's any good for that or not.

im looking for an all around good place to live, ample employment opportunities, mild winters (compared to sask) close skiing, good longboarding and good biking, and good local vibe. I know not all of it will be top notch, but somwhere where i can do it all would be awesome.  i haven't spent enough time in penticton but iv always really like it there and just tha area in general. Any one have anything to say about it, good or bad, i want to hear it all. this is a big descision.

well for all biking skiing and all everything possible, loops or kelowna for sure. i mostly ride bikes quite frankly as aposed to ski, so thats probably why i have such a boner for vancouver island

kamloops was my first choice from the start, but i think i would preffer a smaller city, i think it would be easier to meet new people. thats just what i think, correct me if im wrong

well i hate cities, so thats why i live in comoxx, but i dont have trouble meeting people when i travel or stay in cities for extended periods of time

yo guys I think you're missing the main point when he said AFFORDABLE. Vancouver and Whistler are dope but unless you're a millionaire you can scratch buying property there. Kelowna isn't cheap either. The interior has some good options for skiing and decent industries I believe Kimberly is still pretty cheap with ok skiing. Revelstoke and Golden would be good for skiing but I'd imagine their property is getting pricy with the development of resorts. I think Nelson is still cheap and good skiing but I don't theres a whole lot of money to be made in that town. Northern Eastern BC has the highest paying labour jobs and the cheapest property. So if you wanna buy a house and make some scrill thats the place to be. But there isn't much in terms of developed ski resorts. Powder King is dope but only has two lifts and thats the best one. Thats not to say there isn't mountains, hell theres the rocky mountains. If you're into treking and getting a sled and skiing knee deep look into Tumbler Ridge, one of the most beautiful places in the world and nobody knows about it. But the social scene itself would be lame. Anyway thats my thought on stuff I would give you more info and less fragment but I have studying to do.

someone else suggested that. whats it like? iv never been a fan of "fish towns" and thats kinda how i see it, and i dont mean to sound ignorant but i guess i am as iv never been there. i checked out the community site and its looks alright. got anything to say about it? good, bad, anything about the locals? guy to girl ratio, people in there early twentys and so on

bc is dope and i am sure u will like most of the places there!
as for places to live i suggest revy, anywhere in the okanagan (vernon, kelowna or penticton) squamish, nelson are some other cool places
