so how is the world safer place after afganistan and iraq?

atleast from my experience flying has become really hard, and its worst in states, like you guys are paranoid in there. and after you guys liberated afganistan from its taleban tyranny(which you had put there) the drugfarmers came back and the make more profit than ever before.
and well the post-war iraq is much more dangerous place that pre-war iraq(which i happened to visit twise)

ok I take that bakc (sort of) if I think the war is a good thing for the whole world (not just the us and not so good for others) then I might think about fighting. also, I was refering to politics and laws and the whole system of things, that is what I want to try to improve, not going to war or 'fighting for your freedome' becuase this is usually not needed for our 'freedome' plenty of countried have wounderfull freedome withought fighting.

hey yeah^^ i agree with kamikaze, about loving country but not necsarrily being proud of it all the time.
this is interesting, its all a matter of views i suppose, with so many people who all think diffrent noone will ever be happy, sure, bush has screwed up, but so does everyone. yet i still dont like him very much. i think its all a matter of views, theres people who think bush is the best thing in the world, and who are we to say they're wrong? but at the same time, to think someone is so wonderful, and not be able to see or admit their flaws is in a small way, 'brainwashed'

Personally, I think the best way to go about waging a war on terrorism is to attack the problem at the root; i.e. hatred of America. Irrational hatred, say, religiously motivated, we can't do much against besides 'kill the towelheads.' Rational hatred on the other hand, can be prevented. Say if we invaded few countries, killed a lot of innocent people, and pissed off all their relatives; well, that's something we can try to stop doing.

The second means of preventing terrorism is by going after the biggest arms dealer in the world. That's, um, us.

And if we could pull out heads out of our nationalistic asses for long enough to realize that AIDS kills more people in a day than terrorism has ever killed, maybe we could realize that there are more important things that can be done than trying to defend our country's reputation, i.e. 'we don't take shit from anyone.'

Theory 1: Irrational terrorism can never be 'fully' preventable, except in a police state; and even then, it's still a possibility.

Theory 2: Trying to eradicate irrational terrorism is like trying to blow out a fire in a haystack. The more you blow, the more the flame is kindled. Give people reasons to hate us and give them targets for hatred (say, troops patrolling Main Street), and you've given people the power to be 'terrorists.'

My grandfather came to the US from Eastern Europe in 1912. Everyday I thank him for having the balls to leave his family behind so that his children and his children’s children could have a better life. Those of us who live in the US have it unbelievably good – and you don’t even realize it! I am an American, but I am not proud of how we have acted as of late. We are using the war on terror to promote our own interests rather than our own safety. Both sides can be argued, but the bottom line is that the US entered Iraq based upon false information, which is now being refused to the public. The CIA manipulated their information to give the illusion of a greater threat. We acted on this illusion as Muslims extremists act on the illusion that the US is evil. Our soldiers are just carrying out their orders, for which I am grateful that we have an army that will listen to their officers. I may support the troops, but I definitely don't support the war. I rambled, but got most of my feelings on this issue out, so whatever.

Fighting for independence (in itself a good debate- any one of the American 'protectorates' in the world could wage a war for independence on the same grounds that we did three 350 years ago) has absolutely nothing to do with waging a war on terrorism. The only way to do that, by the way, would be to have a complete lack of opposition; that is, a U.S. controlled globe. Seeing as how the vast majority of people on this planet have disagreed with U.S. policy of late, that doesn't seem like a particularly good solution...

There's a difference between waging war to free yourself from the bonds of allegiance to another country and bombing the fuck out of anyone who you think *might* have the *potential* to hurt you. If you can't see that, then God help America.
