im goin to see it tonight with friends, now ik theres another thread on this and alot of you said it wasnt scary, im kind of pussy hen it comes to scary movies and im alright with the blood and gore shit its the when things pop out at oyu stuff so tell me what you thtought and if i could handle it, srry for me being such a bitch

This seems to be very 50/50. I want to go see it but I'm not sure if I will think it's scary or whatever.
It's supposed to be suspenseful and creepy and not really poppy scary.

have fun getting sick form the shitty filming by the main character,  The previews for other movies were scarier.  Litteraly people were screaming "fuck this shit" "oh bullshit"  "i got drunk for that shit" ..... ugh fuck that shit,

It's suspenseful.  If you're into that you'll think it's really good.  If you're more about pop-up scary, then you'll hate it as it has almost none of that.  Also if you didn't like cloverfield or blair witch because of the filming, then you'll hate this too.  Either way the ending sucks.

im very glad i didn't pay money to see this movie.

while it was a good attempt and a fairly original idea..... i just wasn't that phased by it.

what happened to the horror genre? I miss movies like 'Alien' and 'The Shining'

no way man, the shining is probably one of the most legit scary movies out there. jack played that part soo well. only thing i dont like is everytime i see his wife in that movie i want to rip my tv off the wall and throw it off the balcony, she reminds me of olive from poppeye. otherwise good movie for its time, great filming too

i NEVER watch scary movies ever (call me a pussy if you want), but its just not my thing.  Like the last scary movie i can remember watching is the Strangers which only made me jump a bit with pop ups.

onto paranormal activity, it was overhyped and i watched it with a few friends at 10 on a Friday night.  It was funny as hell which was good but for the first hour and few minutes it wasnt scary at all.  just a little sketchy. 

The last ten minutes or so is the "scariest" part.  It made it worse that everyone in the theater (including girl beside me) fucking screamed when the body hit the camera + face to camera.  Oh and i was at like the 2nd row too cause it was packed.  Half of my friends were really jumpy where as the rest of us were pretty neutral cept for me at the end. overall it was a good movie, just a bit slow and a bit too overhyped

at least the theaters are now showing the new ending and not the originally planned ending. you can find the original online but basically katie kills micah then gets a round to the chest from a shotgun by the police. the new one is much much better

thats the whole fucking point of the movie, it was supposed to look like a home video.

I saw this movie tonight, and I thought it was way better than your regular slasher horror movie. I hate horror movies that focus totally on blood and guts (like the saw movies), their not scary, their disgusting. This movie was creepy as fuck. The way it was filmed was really cool (home movie style), the characters were actually believable people who you could relate to, and i thought the fact that they were able to creep me out without crazy special effects was really cool. I like horror movies that build suspense without having crazy monsters predictably pop out, and this movie achieved that. If you liked the Blair Witch Project then this movie is definitely for you.

Horror movies have gone downhill recently and i thought this one was pretty entertaining, it freaked me out and actually made me think. Definitely worth seeing.

And i guess theres an alternate ending that they shot that's supposed to be even better that the theatrical ending, so i'm def gonna try and find that somewhere online.

I agree.  Saw it last night and loved it.  i thought it was true, until the last shot, which was kinda overdone but it was kinda necessary.  Great movie and extremely low budget

from what I understand, the theatrical ending was the "most exciting" of the 3.

the version i saw had one of the two original endings, which wasn't very climactic IMO.

still, you have to give the creators of this movie credit. They filmed it with a tiny budget (somewhere around $12,000 US is what i heard), and are going to make buckets of money.

I'll take this over the Saw/Hostel gore-flick garbage any day.

i think youll be fine, all the girls i was with are usually jumpy/scared during every moment in a scary movie but they didnt make a peep during the whole thing.  They only jumped once during the end so just if you're usually jumpy, just brace yourself for the end.  I got a bit paranoid when i got home after the movie, went to bed then got a little scared going to the bathroom at like 3am lol.

SPOILER (as if there werent already enough here)

totally disagree, the theatrical ending was made for mainstream to provide that jolt and surprise that every other movie has.  the ending on the one that's leaked online was so much creepier, realistic, and just like depressing.  it didn't give the viewer the satisfaction of why anything happened or what is to happen in the future, making it more believable that a haunting could really happen to anyone.

i liked how the non-theatrical ending showed that the demon took over the girl, but then left as the police came into the house.  you see the light in the background room turn on and then off, and then finally the door slams as she is approaching the cops with the knife, probably scaring the even more police causing them to shoot her (with a regular pistol not a shotgun).

the theatrical ending is just like ok wow now she's a demon and is no where to be found and isn't realistic at all.  IMO it's easier to believe that a demon (that we can't see) is still out there, as opposed to someone who has turned into a demon

never saw either of those but IMO it was comparable to the first time i saw the sixth sense when i was 10.  you're not gonna wanna look away from the screen or anything, it's just constant building tension that you know is going to happen, you're just not sure exactly what

The last gore flick that ACTUALLY scared the shit out of me, was the ORIGINAL Texas Chainsaw Massacre.  That movie is creepy as fuck.

Also, people (not saying you) that consider the Saw series, Hostel, or movies like Bullet For My Valentine to be horror (meaning, group of people killed off by a psycho)...  are douchebags.  All that movies like that are, are Action movies that are somewhat scary with a shit ton of blood.

Definitely.  I really liked how it didn't resort to the grossly overused pop-up type of horror.  For example there's a couple times in the movie when I was expecting something to pop-up but never did namely whenever there was a mirror.  It was extremely refreshing.  But damn.  The theatrical ending was just so shitty.  Kinda ruined the movie for me.

have you guys seen/read about the ORIGINAL original ending? (SPOILER.)
"This ending initially repeats what we see in the other two endings. We watch through the camera as the couple sleep. Then suddenly Kate sits straight up, gets out of bed, walks over to Micah and stands over him staring at him for a few hours. Then she walks out of the bedroom and we hear her going downstairs. After a few minutes tick off the clock, we hear Kate screaming. Micah wakes up, screams to Kate that he is coming to help her, and he darts out of the room. For the next few minutes you just see an empty bedroom with the ticking clock and you hear both Kate and Micah screaming and a lot of commotion like they are fighting. After a few minutes, the screaming stops and it is silent. After a minute or two of silence, you hear a loud stomping sound (like something very heavy is coming up the stairs).

From here, the ending diverges: Kate walks into the bedroom covered in blood and holding a large butcher knife down at her side. She walks into the room very heavy and stiff-like. She walks right up to the camera so that the upper half of her body is in the shot (but she isn't staring into the camera or looking at you, she's sort of looking downward), and then she simply pulls up the knife and slashes her throat in one quick, graceful movement, and falls down on the ground. The camera keeps rolling so we just see an empty bedroom for a few seconds and then the camera shuts off and the movie ends."

Damn. I lied a bit. So apparently the movie had a buunch of alternate endings that they only screened once and that was one of them, the police one is the actual original. The suicide one seems like it would have fit better and left everyone a bit more disturbed

yea so there are 4 endings total: theatrical, "original" i saw(kills micah, friend comes, police come), diff version of the "original" (kills micah, friend comes, kills friend, police come) and then the one you mentioned when she slits her troat.  the suicide one was apparently only screened once and would definately have been disturbing and/or gruesome and i think that's why it was only screened once.

that ending is also more realistic than the theatrical, but i still like the cops one better.  with the suicide again we wouldnt be given any real answers, but maybe it would lead viewers to that she ended her life because either she couldn't handle having killed micah, or she thought killing herself would also kill the demon. as opposed to the "original" ending where we understand she had no intentions of killing anyone and the demon is really still around.
