I just found this website,http://www.gearbum.net, which is a pretty good site for finding cheap gear deals. It monitors all the big deal sites (steepandcheap, tramdock, brociety, whiskey militia), gives you a price history for all the current deals, and even lets you set deal alerts if you're looking for a particular item. So, say you want to find some cheap crowbars. You can just set up an alert with keywords oakley crowbar, and a price of say, $40, and you'll get an email whenever that deal comes up. It's a pretty nice way of finding deals without having to constantly monitor those sites.
