I came up with a great idea at noon today while at work. I began designing it in my mind (one of the perks of being dyslexic, im very visual) On the forty five minute drive home (i was the passenger) i drew up a rough sketch and immediately started changing things around in my mind and scribbling some drawings down. I got home at five thirty and went straight to work on it with only the picture in my mind. its almost 12:30 now.
The first prototype is basically done, I made it quick out of plywood just to show off my design and see how it works and to verify geometry and the range of motion. So far in theory and by my simple prototype it should work excellently.
Now im going for a late night drive and then a longboard ride to get some inspiration for the binding system, they need to allow up to 60 degree rotation with adjustable limits based on rider preference, it must keep riders feet secured to the board while all the while being easy to slip out of.
The beauty of my design is its fully customizable, all the parts of the board can be upgraded or changed to fit your specific style of riding, or even just for skill level.
Some final details, this is a board for snow, it has heavy influence from longboarding, and snowboarding, its not only for flat packed snow ie: cruising around the ski village, its also for downhill; carving, speedboarding, possibly even rails and boxes with some refinements to the design. Hell, even the pipe or jumps. The possibilities are endless.
Il post pics once i get a better prototype built. And then a video of how it will ride if all goes according to plan.
