hey i just bought a pair of this seasons _____ and got them mounted up a couple weeks ago. When i got them home i was just checkin out the ski flexing them, when i flexed one of the skis it made a strange sound in the tip section. Ive done a lot of work with fiberglass boats and such and it sounded like the fiberglass layers in the ski shifted or the glue layer shifted if that makes any sense. I just dont want my brand new skis to delimitate in the first couple days of riding or have a preexisting problem before i even ride them. What should i do?
if you came back to my shop trying to return skis for something as retarded as the hearing the fibreglass pop when you flex them i would first, look at you like you we're stupid. second, i would think really hard of something to say that isn't condescending, thirdly once you left i would tell other people that worked with me so they could laugh too.
so in short there is nothing wrong with your ski.
Nice dude im glad everyone got to hear a riveting account of how you would hate on a kid like me but i think im ok. I mean i just spent like 900 dollars of my hard earned cash on a pair of skis get em mounted up bring them home and first time i flex them it sounds like a bunch of layers are shifting and glue sounding brittle. I dont know maybe im a dumbass but i thought id atleast ask before i actually ride them.
it's all good. just the layers of adhesive flexing in the ski. most companies will preflex all their skis in the factory before shipping them so you don't get that cracking sound but it is normal.
my shop used to carry Elan skis and they were notorious for making super loud cracking noises when customers flexed them. i had a ton of people think they had broken the ski
all brand new skis do that...at my shop we grab most of our new skis and flex em so they "crackle" before putting em on the floor so customers dont think they broke em or something when your trying to sell it.
