Audio on Macbook Pro NO WORKY!

I have googled, asked kids at school, just wanted to see if anyone has had this problem and fixed it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. just wanted to check before i bring it to the store to get it checked out

Both fortunately and unfortunately I have been browsing there for quite some time. Google helped with that. I am going to see what I can do, maybe someone else has the solution

you'll probably have to take it to apple and say what they say, which is probably not the solution you wanted to hear. at least it's not what I wanted to hear when my logic board went, it meant no computer for a few weeks : (

go to system preferences and click sound then check input and output and see if anything shows up
check to make sure that it doesn't think there is something plugged in and if it says there is something plugged in you have to take a paper clip into the headphone port and toggle that shit till the laser goes off...

Had the same problem couple of months ago. I tried the paperclip in the socket - didn't work. For some random reason, my sound just got "unstuck". Real bad situation. I hope you have the warranty or Apple Care.

Well guys I fixed it. Just wiped the hard drive, did a clean install of OSX Snow Leopard and Now it is back working normally. I am just hoping that it continues to work. Knock on wood. Thank goodness for Time Machine!

this...i would use a toothpick instead of a paperclip though, just because it is less likely to scratch the inside of the port

Weird, I guess it was a software issue then? Props for fixing the problem. How long ago was the backup from? Any idea when it started to happen? I'm just curious now.

Yeah it was awful, but completely my fault because I spilled a Coke. Stupidest thing I've ever done. Anyway I didn't have it for almost a month but only because I played with it by myself for awhile, then brought it to the campus computer store where they spent a few days looking at it, then got it back before they sent it to Apple so I could have a friend replace the parts for cheaper. It was a long process though.

Well it started to happen yesterday morning when i turned on the computer. The night before the sound worked. I think it may have had to do with me installing some of the final cut studio content. But when i did Time Machine i did the backup from that day and it worked. I can only think it was a software problem or something that needed to be deleted. glad its fixed for now! Only wierd thing is though when i click the volume up or down it doesn't make that noise, that little clicking noise you know?

Best way to fix these problems is to pick up your macbook and take it to your local Apple store.

They either fix it or repair it.  usually within 30 minutes.  The longest it has ever taken for me to get something replaced (disk drive) was 35min, some people have said it took a full 45min for them though...

Yeah sounds like you must've got the culprit.

I just got my Macbook Pro back today after about a month and half of not working. It would usually randomly just not boot and than if it did boot it would freeze after about 10 mins so Apple got a good series of calls from me with no resolution other than driving to 45 mins away.

After doing that 4 times they finally replaced my harddrive which didn't do shit. So I brought it to a local computer shop who were resellers and they just said hell with it and gave me a new logic board.

Seems to be going well now. All without spending a dime. Stoked on that.
