so its looking like I will be spending my winter in either Steamboat or Crested Butte. What are your recommendations NS? Anyone been to both? I like park but i am all about exhausting the big lines, cliffs and powder before I head to the park.
The butte will put serious brown in your baggies. The boat has the best glade skiing on the planet, IMO. Catch it on a powder day, and it'll be the best day you ever had. Steamboat has one area of hikeable chutes. It's cool but there just isn't enough of it. As good as it is, I get board with Steamboat after a few days. Every where you turn at the Butte there is another insane line. Butte would be my choice.
I lived in the Butte for a few years, and I still haven't seen all the steeps. They are gnarly and if you ride hard you won't have the energy for the park. The park is not very good compared to a lot of parks I have been to. Its just not that high up on the agenda of cb management i don't think. If your looking for steeps that will make you shit your pants, go cb.
