hi, my brother works at a steel company i got the hook up on steel..... i was planning on making 2- 15' straight rails ... does any one know what kinda steel would work the best like flat stock? i like flat rails but what would be my best option on steel like a flat stock box or a solid peice of flat steel or what? I dont want my rail getting all shotty after a couple times of use. If any one has any plans like where to put the supports and how many to put that would be tite too! ... thanks
just get whatever is the hardest type of steel i think that cold rolled is best like he said but talk to the guy at the steel company, the harder the better (thats what she said) so your edges dont catch and the elements dont fuck up the rail
for stands: weld a vertical tube down from the rail, then take a piece of sheetmetal (rather thick) and weld a bigger diameter tube under 90° on the sheetmetal.
for use: put down the sheetmetal with the tube and insert your rail
and for transport: take it apart and you have a very clean rail to transport...
