me and some buddies are planing on going up to mt hood this summer to ski and i was wondering if they make a public park that you can go and ski at like the whistler summer park?????????

Yeah they have a public park. I've heard mixed things about it. Most people said it isn't that good but I'm hoping it is because that is where I'm spending the summer. I've also heard it is pretty easy to sneek into camp parks especially later in the day.

Depending on how late you go, the public park may or may not be lift serviced. It is on the magic mile lift, not on the glacier, and last July (low snow year) you either had to hike from the bottom of the park to the lift, or hike back to the top of the park. You definatly want to check before you buy your lift ticket. You don't want to throw down $40 when you will be hiking all day anyway.

Conditions usually are corny and when it gets cold, naturally itll turn icy. But hell, to ski some parks in july in a Tshirt,when everyone else is sittin in front of the A/C... who cares?

on a good snow year in june and july the public park will be just as good as the camp parks.... thats why you see so many campers rollin threw the park

is it an easy hike? i think i will be doing that a ton this summer. just hike simple shit and save money while enjoying myself.

this year was a good snow year at hood so the park should be open late

The park is damn good in the summer. Anyone who says otherwise has no idea. It isn't as good as a High cascade or windels, but they r constantly working on it, and there are always at least 5 decent rails. ALways good jumps. They change the park set up to, so it isn't always repetitive. U will stick out if u go into a camp though, because they require helmets, and the ski groups are always together. and don't hick up or u will get a trespasing ticket, it is bullshit now.
Don't take life to serious, you will never get out alive.

yea ive hiked alot in the last couple summers and have been kicked off like 15 times probably... it sucks, but i have had lots of good poached days... also as weird as it is, its almost better to ask camps if you can hit there stuff, like mt hood summer ski camp,

if you go in like june its the best cuz there is like ten jumps and its just a big rhythm line. adn most of the jumps all have options on em, but as teh summer goes by the snow melts and it usually gets down to two or three jumps.

i ski hood every summer.. all summer... (not this summer..fucking acls..) they USUALLY keep the park very well kept up, all summer long pipe, lots of hits and rails too. its sick...you'll have fun.

the pipe is uaslu better thatn windells cause it is not used as much and the people that use know what they are dooing. last year they hada sick pipe and a quarter pipe also. you can sometimes sneek on to the camp parks. and just say you got lost......

i work for tline park crew and am bringin up friends from the park city park crew to work this summer. by 2011 there are going to be the biggest jumps on hood because of snow farming technologies. all the rails are beeing rebuilt and tested in park city this weekend and will be brought up for summer 2010.

the pub park is pretty good nothing compared to windells or HC. They usually have a sick pub pipe tho if u wanna tear that up
You def cant hike up from the base. its pretty far up and dont think about sneaking into the windells park, thats messed up and you'll get kicked out in a sec. Not to mention this past summer some retard snowboarder decided to sneak in and hit the bag jump to do a dub back and smashed his head into the top of the jump, started seizureing on the bag and had to be air lifted off the mountain
