Also, for those who lack the experience and skills of those in their newschool peer group at their local hill, they figure they can make up for the lack of status in the group by amping up the 'hardcore' behavior and mannerisms. If they can't get the attention of their peers through a display of skill, they can be especially open and forecull in their display of 'thugery'. In their minds, 'bad-azz' thugery can make up for lack of skill and allow one to gain some cred with 'the homies back in the crib.' From my observations, most really aren't seriously working on skill development, they are just acting like thugs; because that's the only thing they can do to get the attention of their peers and score 'steeze' points. The problem is amplified if there are girls around(I believe they are referred to as 'Bettys')
