i have found an excess of useless threads on ns latley...

and i was thinking that new members shouldnt be able to make new threads until they have like 50-100 posts.

that way they search more, or refrain altogether from making threads that make no sense.

and for the record, no i didnt search. lol, i know there are SIMILAR threads on this idea, but none to my liking.

they have similar rules like that over at skate perception and i think it results in much less cluttered threads. it's getting to the point where i really only look in cults beside the bst

or when you first join.. go through like a minute tutorial on the basics of NS. How to change your name, the searchbar, posting, cults, etc.

It would eliminate some noob question threads that we see a lot.

This might just increase the amount of useless posts inside threads. I guess that is slightly better than cluttering up the thread list, but I can see people posting just to get their count up so they can create a thread.

I think the best solution is to have more forums, I know NS has always been Ski Gabber, Non Ski Gabber, but I think theses categories might be getting too broad. If we keep them but add new ones it might help.

well you just going to get a bunch of people replying to threads that might not no what there talking about or just replying to stuff that they dont no about just to get there posts up. But i agree with what your saying i mean some are just stupid.

See, this is a great idea and will really lower the amount of posts, but there are also some big drawbacks:
1. Out of control/pointless posting.
2. What if someone actually has a serious question that hasn't been asked before? Ex. I am looking to build a BC jump and need to know the best way to pack and what conditions are prime?

i think the fact that theyre so broad filters out the uninteresting stuff. and if we had a bunch of different sub categories i bet alot of them would be kind of dead

I feel like this might work better,
They might have been going on NS for awhile but not bothered actually joining until they had a specific question. And as someone already mentioned there is a chance a complete noob could have a good question.
And I feel like time on the site rather than number of posts is a better way to define a noob. just to avoid the useless postwhoring to get their count up. Or maybe a karma count, then it would limit the ability of the useless trolls to create threads.
