It is just the fact its the Android OS. And Verizon is supposed to not cripple this phone. And Google voice could do all kinds of things to make texting / voice plans cheaper.

Like you could make your google voice number one of your 5 faves, and use google voice to make outgoing calls to any number (aka unlimited cell phone minutes essentially). You could use google voice for incoming / outgoing text messages and eliminate your cell phones text plan.

Plus we'll have flash support, an awesome ass camera on our phone (it has autofocus too if i recall). Plus 16gb for sure of micro-SD card support, maybe even 32gb.

A large majority of apps for Android OS is free. And why should I have to jailbreak a phone to make it not suck?

Although we need to be realistic. There are 10 Android based phones supposed to be on the market before the end of the year...so more choices are coming. And a rumored 20 phones in 2010.

Sprint has 1 phone, and T-Mobile has 2 already. Verizon picks up their first one most likely.....Oct 30th / Nov 1st

Plus.....get this...Verizon's third phone will have "myfi" built in to it. Whats that you say? Well it basically turns your phone in to a router with EVDO or 3G for internet connectivity. This commercial is the first of just many Android devices.

Windows Mobile is dead, and by the way if you didn't hear...the Palm Pre...is coming to Verizon in 2010.

the old winmo is dead but not the 6.5 its there new OS that is going in HTC and Samsung phones for att as well as a few lgs and motorolas.

Symbian, Android, or Iphone before Windows Mobile.

That first one was bullshit, considering it didn't tell me a fucking thing about the droid.  I have no idea what it looks like, what it does/doesn't do, etc.  All it told me is what my iPhone doesn't do.  Which I already knew.

As for the second one, oh no, random rural areas of the country aren't covered by ATT's 3G.  I have 3G where I live, so I really don't give a shit if they have it elsewhere or not.

Verizon is just fucking terrible at everything.

If you look at all the android phones out. you will see there are smooth touchscreen only iphone looking devices.

this is better for everyone. What isn't good is the pricing. Verizon is just as expensive as AT&T in terms of data + text + voice.

So the 2 most quality networks in America remain like 30% more expensive than T-Mobile or Sprint. But also like 900 times better networks. AT&T is pretty fucking gay in certain areas too. Their 3G sucks in large cities from what I've heard. Like go to a sporting game for instance and the amount of traffic on their 3g towers slows everything down like what high speed internet used to be...back in like 2001.

Ideally budget data plans, and unlimited SMS service should become more common I hope.....it seems to be the new area where carriers like to double the bill. Your voice plan is just half the bill.

Well i agree with you on how the android phones look the same. But i am super curious to see how the phone runs because its running Android 2.0.....

And im not 100% sure on this but i do not believe this phone will be that expensive.... not talking about actually buying the phone casue thats prolly gonna cost like $399 or something like that... But i read online that compared to iPhone runs at like $100 bucks a year topay for services... and that the droid running that android 2.0 was gonna somthing like $25 when you get the phone and thats it...

could be wrong ...

I'm looking to switch to an actual phone plan at some point in the near future. I still have my tracphone because it doesn't expire until Feb and still has a bunch of time on it.

The Droid is a phone I might actually switch to. Only thing is, I'm unsure of any good plans that won't empty my wallet. Anyone here have good Verizon plans?

Cheapest voice plan = $35 but it doesn't have like mobile to mobile or nights and weekends. Cheapest data plan is $30. So its $65 + taxes at the very least.

For $39.99 you can get on a 450 anytime minute plan, unlimited night / week and all the normal stuff. Then Your text plan... 500 texts with unlimited mobile to mobile is $10. They have a $5 plan with like 250 text messages. Finally a $15 plan with 1500 texts.

If you upgrade to one of the plans with one of the fave 5 numbers you could setup google voice as one of your phone numbers and essentially have unlimited minutes. Also using your data plan you could use google voice to send / receive text messages.

I mentioned this above though.

I like it. Verizon for the first time in the company history has a phone worth bragging about, and has an OS that can kick the Iphone around. And not to mention we have the gnarliest network in all of America.

I've been on everyone but AT&T though haha.



Also if people are discouraged by the prices of Verizon, you can save 10-20% if you buy a HTC Hero from T-Mobile or Sprint. They have cheaper plans, and the HTC Hero is just like the droid in many ways but no physical keyboard. The OS still has the same 10,000+ apps, and 5mp camera is included for amateur porn.

No flop here. This is the iphone killer. It runs Android OS. An open source operating system. Meaning developers can release all kinds of shit, and it'll do it. Meanwhile with Apple...well if Apple wants to let it through...they'll let it through.


The commercial says it perfectly though. Why would I want an iphone? No flash camera flash, no physical keyboard, apple constantly limiting my phone and its capabilities.
Apple & AT&T proved how big of a fuck wad they can be when they dicked around with Flash support.

You have to forget how Verizon used to be with this phone (supposedly), and rethink their take on smartphones. If its anything like the G1 or the HTC Hero.....its going to be fucking awesome.

This phone is for real nerds. I don't mean that in a knock down way, but you could classify iphone's as a "trendy phone", blackberry as a "business phone", and android based phones as "nerd phones".

There is an app that allows you to scan barcodes, and then it will search the net for that barcode and see what prices it finds. Hows that for on the spot shopping? My friend did that with a T.V. in best buy once to feel cool. He's like......I see ya got this tv for $1799 yada yada, yeah let me see that UPC....*scan*....hmm I can get it to my door shipped for $1649, you sure you don't want to do it for less?
"That is the lowest we can go sir I am sorry"

Then the dude tries to keep selling the t.v. to my buddy and midway through conversation he goes done! I seen the T.V. it looks awesome, so I decided to buy it... for $1649, you've been more than helpful! Thanks Best Buy salesmen.........


Another guy I know makes a living with his G1 in a sense. He goes around and buys books......and resells them. College text books and stuff for instance. Well his G1 allows him to do this on the fly so he has results in seconds.

Ahhhh, just wait...just wait Iphone users. You will be crying "i wish my phone could do that" before you know it......

Verizon's third Android phone will have this feature, and if this feature doesn't make you say "fucking I want it" I dunno what will heh.

Your phone can turn in to a wireless router for your whatever. It uses its 3g or EVDO connection to allow you to connect wirelessly to it.

So in other words I can be in a hotel with no wifi, and still be hifi.

Basically tethering with no tether I guess, and allows multiple computers.Sprint already has this option on their Android phone if I am not mistaken.

Also keep in mind, this OS has been on the G1 which has been on T-Mobiles network for over a year now. That is why there are.... 10k+ apps (most of which are absolutely free).

So the only way this phone will fail is if Motorola makes the gayest hardware ever. Because the OS is already out, and people love it. Also Motorola release the CLIQ last week which has the Android OS, and so far everyone loves that phone too, so I am going to guess we have another not crappy phone coming from Motorola.

This phone better not suck...I am learning how to develop apps for it now, and even though their is a ski conditions application, and a resort map app. I want to try and make a new ski condition app that includes all of the U.S.A. instead of just basically out west (the Android ski condition app hasn't included midwest for instance).

not a big RIM fan. I actually hate their phones. Maybe its just because my job deals with blackberry enterprise server and I see them fucking suck all the time.

Harsh words, but I seriously hate RIM. On the bright side, RIM is like Ford or something. They create a lot of jobs....someone has to fix all these problems haha
