It depends on the phone company. Although in many cases (on landlines), if you're dialing out of your area code, it's long distance.

shit dude. hmmm. interesting thought: if it depends on your phone company, possibly try a pay phone? i know it sounds stupid, but maybe their policy is different regarding what counts as long distance. or they'll just rip you off even more. you could maybe borrow a friend's cell phone?
