If you come down and catch the edge of your skate helmet on the snow there is a very high risk of breaking your neck. Ski helmets are tapered and shit so this won't happen. Careful dude, it's kind of a big deal on super high speed jumps and shit, seshing some rails, not as big of a deal.

no. icons are uncomfortable as shit under/behind a helmet. people that do are either more concerned about looking cool or are too cheap to buy earbuds. get some sony h.ears. best headphone ever for skiing, and theyre like 10 bucks.

The new soft ones arent. I just got tossed like 4 pairs, they are much better. Still crap sound, but the ergonomics of the icon2 is much better.

for $20 i cant complain about the icons. they fit comfortably behind my helmet and dont fall down at all. ear buds never stayed in my ears so thats why i use icons. and i dont think the sound quality is really that bad, especially for $20

if you can put your headphones between your head and your helmet there probably isn't much point in wearing your helmet. the top on the neck technique works pretty well though and that way it's super easy to pull them down to talk to people and stuff.

I had a speaker kit fitted to my RED helmet last year, and it is massively bulky. I know most people, including me, like to wear a slimmer profiled helmet, so that it feels more like a hat. But the speaker kit makes the sides huge, and makes the helmet look ridiculous, like one of those really cheap ones that protect your head simply because there is so much polystyrene.

Use earbuds. Better sound quality, better ergonomics

Screw Icons, they're unformfortable under a helmet and got shitty sound. Go for the Koss Porta Pros, they're extremely low profile and got great sound. +A lifetime warranty.

I got a couple of free pairs at momentum in the summer and I could fit them with my helmet super well. Just flip the ears around and hang the bit that's supposed to go over your head, behind your neck. The strap bits by ears held the headphones in place, even on jumps. But fuck skullcandy, their headphones blow dick. It's 3 months later and both my pairs of icons have since crapped out.
