I got home and saw this on the news

now theyre just looking for a splattered 6 year old somewhere in colorado.
they think there might have been another compartment that detached. that part might have had falcon in it. he could be alive, but no one knows.

I don't think this kid could be hiding in the house, kids dont have that much patience. And I don't think that balloon could lift a 50 pound (guessing on the weight here). So he has to be somewhere near by and I am guessing that he did not fall from the balloon. But WTF is going on what a crazy story. And the family being on wife swap and everything. fucking crazy.

Actually, what the fuck would the kid be breatheing ? Can you just breathe helium? I doubt it. My guess is he passed out inside the baloon, then fell out. Or he's playing duty.

they just said that the basket detached from the bottom so there was something on the bottom of that, that broke off. he has to be less than 500 yards from the house. I guess the dad has a temper though so it is perfectly believable that he took off after it flew away.

Did a little bit of math. If you take the lifting capacity of helium and take the volume of a cylinder 20' diameter and 6 feet tall, you get a lifting capacity of around 120 pounds. Subtract the weight of the envelope and the boy and there is still some lifting capacity left. So he could have been lifted by the balloon.

However the balloon looked deflated and I would say about 1/2 the capacity that I calculated when it landed and from the picture right after it took off. This leaves only about 60 pounds of lifting capacity, at sea level. So I don't think it could have lifted off with the kid in it.
