So i just got a bike (perfecting time right for winter, i know) and its supposed to be nice friday. Any know of sick trails fairly close to town that wouldnt have a bunch of snow on. Ive only been riding up near bridger where the mountain raves are but there probably a bunch of snow up there. thanks!
portal creek (pretty fucking gnar though). if you drive up the canyon towards big sky, it's just after the green bridge a ways. on the left, you'll drive like 9 miles or so up the dirt road following the trail sign to 'hidden lakes'. you can unload in the parking lot, i'd go ride with ya man but i took my bike back to helena to store it for the winter. it's a gnarly ass ride over rocks, through little streams and some big hill climbs but once you get to the lakes its fucking sick.
Haven't been up to Hyalite...or even in Bozeman in a few months...but anyway I see guys riding up in the Hood Creek area on the same trails that I ride my mountain bike on. The trailhead is at the gate thats to your left right when you go over the dam. Good luck!
