i have it, and it sucks. i sit on NS for hours while i should be studying. and it makes me procrastinate on things i really need to take care of. i hate it, ggaaahhhh!

Some people truly have a ADD disorder, however it is overdiagnosed an estimated 330%. To some a problem, to some a excuse.

I think I have ADD because I spend all day and night on here when I should be doing important stuff like homework and etc.....

Let's face it, no one posts anything serious on NS, and even if I wanted to, it would be answered by some not-so-clever variation of the following:

K... this is the deal with ADD... There are two types... ADHD and ADLD...

The H one is Hyperactive
The L one is Laid back or somthing...

Anyway this is how it works... everyone has a certain amount of natural neurotransmitters in their brain... most people are in the 90% range or whatever out of a hundred... and could use a few more %s... but don't need drugs to fix their minor attention and focusing problems, if these people do get a perscription then the drugs bump the neurotransmitter level up for the amount of time that it is influencing you... like 8 hours or whatever. The problem with normies taking the drugs is that their neurtransmitting ability drops and if they didn't really need the drugs before hand... they do now, and they are addicted to the drugs, which make studying easier. For people whose neurotransmitter level is much lower than average, the increase in productivity is worth the potential brain damage and addiction... cuz well they are already damaged. Also, a person's neurotransmitting ability drops when tired or bored and that leads many people to believe that they 'have' ADD. Having ADD is not like having the flu or pubic warts, there is no clear cut line for medication... it is more like having Acne. Sure everyone has a little acne, but only people with intense cases end up taking drugs like Accutane or whatever for treatment, cuz well its dangerous.

Okay that was long, and I am sorry, but i felt it neccesary that you all know the facts... one more thing tho...

ADD Drugs ARE AMPHETAMINES!
Yes, they are related to the very harmful Methamphetamine but they effects are not on the same scale and damage is not even close. Brain Damage only really occurs when you take more ADD drugs than prescribed... or take them often when you don't need them.

I Do have ADHD... and I take something called Dexadrine for it... aka Dextroamphetamine.

So before you little kids run of to your doctors and get some drugs, make sure you know the facts.

I hate it really bad, i have to go to like sessions where we talk about it and shit, it sucks all, because i have dyslexia too, and im always saying things that i dont mean, so not only do i say stupid things, i dont pay attention when i say it.

Yeah and i have a very very hard time concentrating on things, i cant remmber anything, and im on a medicene called Aderal, its similar to Ritlin, but cheaper, and more effective.

i dont suffer from add, i suffer from procrastination. I would rather be doing anything then studying or homework, so i alow myself to become distracted and then things like newschoolers take up my life and i play game like that pinguin one and fail chem exams.

ADD sucks hardcore. i seriously cant remember anything that is in a list, steps, or anything like that without going back and looking at it again because I had been thinking about something else and have forgotten it by then. For some it really is a problem, but I do agree that it is super overdiagnosed. Almost every kid is told that they have it whenever they act like a kid now.

I have been diagnosed with ADD, but after learning more about it, I personally think I am just really lazy and unmotivated. But the doctor insists that I'm not lazy and all the test point to me having ADD. I have tried a bunch of medicines which haven't done shit (no good effects, no side effects, nothing happens at all). I really don't know what to think. How 'unnormal' is to zone out during boring lectures or during long hours at work, or not to retain information read from dry literature and text? I'm not sure if it is something I can personally cannot comprehend or if the doctor is just an asshole and loves taking peoples money.

Umm thats weird that you didn't like the drugs... cuz all the non-diagnosed and most likely normal people i know that have take ADD drugs to study zoned in and did work hardcore. But as for your standing FrenchCoast... if all treatment doesn't improve your standing stay away from the treatment.

this guy at my school has major adhd and he cant sit still for a long time and he'll just randomly shout out stuff like he has taretts or whatever. its actually really funny but it gets really annoying really fast. hes really stupid aswell which is bad but also funny cos he says such shit.

yeah, there's definitely such a thing as ADD. It's too often used as an excuse or over diagnosed, and once you really do have the real thing or know someone who does, you realize that it's hardly just being a normal procrastinator who'd rather be skiing than studying, but a true disorder, and just like true depression, or diabetes, or something along those lines; you learn to make your accomodations and live with it, and when its the real thing medicine will often do the trick.
