So i had a second knee surgery earlier this year, to repair damage to my meniscus after blowing out and having my ACL done 2 years ago. Im not supposed to ski till late in the season. Ive gotten taken out and missed the end of seasons before, but never the beginning, and man, it sucks. all these places are starting to open, theres been jib sessions, edits droppin, and all i wanna do is ski, and i still got like 5 months of waiting. anyone else in this boat? im thinkin i might need to camp hood all summer to compensate...
i hyper extended my knee on a botched landing. so yeah, dont do that lol. it was never quite right after, but i skied on it the next two seasons, and it just got worse. so, dont do that either lol. gonna try and take it real easy for as long as i need to and come back as strong as i can, which makes for some BORING times. i wanna go skate or ski or do something, and all i can pretty much do is ride my bike, which is only so entertaining
yah i was almost in that situation. this summer i tore 3 ligaments and luckily didnt need surgery. alot of therapy later im back skiing. my ankle was a little sluggish and is still swollen a little so i think i hjust need some new boots. but ill b taking it easy 4 a while
I also tore three ligaments in my ankle and all 3 in two different places. But I live in NZ and I'm allowed to go skiing again in 2 weeks. So I get 4 days before the mountain closes :) at least its something. I did mine playing hockey.
have surgery tomorrow with the option to fix my meniscus...i'm going to tell them that unless it looks REALLY fixable to cut out the torn portion and let me ski. watching all these edits has been ridiculous...also early season is definitely my favorite time of year. if they do fix ti it only has a 50% chance of healing...so fuck it, i deal with that in 10 years. there's also a chance my ACL may be fucked...i might be with you man...injuries are definitely crazy awful
i had the same thing i went in and thought my meniscus was just gonna be partially scraped out and good to go but the doc ended up doing microfracture surgery also, watch out for that because instead of a short 4 week or so recovery i was non-weight bearing for 6 weeks and wont be able to run/ski till december and the surgery was on july 2
yeah thats exactly what i had, was on crutches for almost 3 months. then another 9-10 with no high impact stuff.
as much as it sucks, my knee probably feels better now than it has in the last 3 years.
and to the kid above, get that shit fixed and sit out what you need to, meniscus injuries blow, and they dont go away, they just get worse. it REALLY sucks, but its way better to sit out one season than the rest of them cause you cant ski at all. i made that mistake, and it was a big one. there was almost nothing left of mine.
wow this thread makes me wanna waer to helmets, back protector and anything else i can get my hands on i would fuckin cry so much if that happend to me couldent you at least just do small rails and stuff though that can be to hard on youre knees
helmets don't usually protect your knees much, even though it is a good idea to wear them.
can you not ski at all, or just can't do high impact stuff? if you can ski, pick up a camera and film your friends, making a good edit is very satisfying and fun
Anyone has shoulder problems? dislocated one in january, went back on the slopes in march, and broke a collarbone at the end of march too... worst season ever. I had surgery for that left slack shoulder and won't ski until february, and I'll have to be super careful...
^ i smashed my shoulder end of last season, and i really couldnt do much for the rest of the year, but it was nothing too serious. just every time id go down on my left, it was the end of my day lol.
and yea, ill be able to ski i guess, but i have a real hard time pokin around when theres good shit to shred right in front of me. plus i have horrible luck, and id hate to catch an edge or something retarded and jack it up again when its not ready. but yeah, im prolly gonna be doing alot of filming these first couple months.
