First and forempst, I would honestly take some lessons. As lame as you'll feel, as embarassing as it will be to learn basics while all the people that you wish you were as good as watch you from the chair, this will not only allow you to enjoy the entire mountain (which on a good day is way more fun than the park), it will help you swallow your pride (you'll be doing this on a daily basis in the park, I'm still doing it), and you'll also be able to go into the park and look good. I can tell when people are riding in the park and aren't comfortable or experienced on their skis.
For now just focus on shredding some mountain, venture into the park after you've done some skiing elsewhere first. Its a journey man, it takes a long time but there is never a bad moment. Keep it up and you'll get there.
